A shocking one in four students at a Bronx high school slated for closure is a teen parent or pregnant, The Post has learned.
That startling statistic is buried in thousands of pages of documents the city Department of Education submitted to the state earlier this year when it initially sought funds to fix the long-struggling Grace Dodge HS in Belmont.
It has since proposed shuttering the school — with, critics charge, no regard to the parenting teens.

This cannot possibly be the fault of society or of America in general. This HAS to be about the personal responsibility and it sounds to me like the school is struggling because the students are not trying and they are futureless, so they believe.

This is a school, not a daycare center for children. Really, these kids have ahd it bad enough, but they are just making things worse for themselves via getting pregnant in their teens.
I wonder how many more citizenry will have to put off having kids they desperately want in order to pay for the kids that teenagers pop out with merry glee.
There are incentives to being a “single mom” in our society today,
so, therefore, there will be more single moms.
the problem is that the system was designed to hlep people who accidently got pregnant out of wedlock and now it’s being used as an ATM machine.

Unless this trend is reversed, eventually the system will collapse in on itself and it will be quite ugly for those who live in the cities.
My bet is some of them got pregnant right on site at the school.

I’m not paying for it. After I get schooling and some funds, I am bailing to a country that does NOT support endless litters of illegitimate children. I want kids of my own and I am not putting having them off because I have to pay for Tamiqua’s spud or TaChinta’s brats who were created from the loins of a variety of gangster thugs.
Do people like these create the need for cradle to grave government programs?

These are kids being raised by two working parents (a male daddy and a female mama) with Christian values, right?

Exactly. These statistics should be hung around the neck of our first 50% black president. What policies or ideas has he put forth to deal with 50% illiteracy in Detroit, and the ridiculous prevalence of illegitimacy and fatherless homes in most (if not all) or our large American cities?
The critics are idiots. This statistic should be a Black Flag flying over this school (Plague Aboard).
This statistic shows that this school should be shut down. This statistic shows that being pregnant has become fashionable at this school.
Given that one would expect 50% of the students are male that would indicate that 50% of the girls at this school are or have been pregnant. This is beyond reason or imagination that this could happen unless it had become the expected social interaction of the students at this school. It has become the “In Thing” for girls to do.
This school should be shut down for no other reason than to get the kids out of the environment that encourages teen pregnancy.
If the so called "education" system is little more than enforced indoctrination in greivance mongering, ensuring that the inmates will never achieve literacy, or even be able to function in the English language, even better.

I’m thinking Poland....I know the language a little, plus they are pretty much a homogenous population, still staunchly Christian, and after their experience with Communism, very anti-Communist. They love Reagan over there more than here.

Iceland and Japan have very restrictive immigration policies for “cultural” (read: racial) reasons. New Zealand welcomes Asians who are well educated and fluent in English, as well as similarly situated Americans. I wouldn’t mind living in a smug, liberal state like Massachusetts or Minnesota, if it had a future. Our immigration policies doom both withing a couple of generations. I hate to say it, but even though my wife and I could qualify for immigration to New Zealand, I do not believe my daughter and her family could.
Since, typically, approximately half (50%) of the students are male, that appears to imply that half of the girls have been knocked up...

I think that would be good, quite frankly since we cannot afford this. I once wondered how and why they were so harsh, but I realize now that they were because they could not afford to support stuff like this.
Culture, family, upbringing, ethics, morals, etc. have nothing to do with it. This can only be solved by throwing more money at bureaucrats

Just a guess — abstinence isn’t being taught at this school.
