Sad news from Afghanistan. The 3rd Brigade 1st Infantry Division is in the process of returning home, with over five hundred soldiers already back at Fort Knox, and this tragedy strikes.
Specialist Bragg is the eighth member of the Duke Brigade to be killed during this deployment.

21. This is so sad. Anytime. Even more, if possible, at Christmas. So many fine young people killed and maimed. I hope to God this turns out to be worth it. I will pray for the family.

A crying shame on so many levels.
We have young women putting their lives on the line while able bodied men are free-loading and stabbing each other in line over a pair of tennis shoes.

A nation that puts its young ladies (the potential mothers of its next generation) into combat while most of its young men are lying around at home playing video games, is a nation that is heading for oblivion.

Hard to imagine an enemy sniper taking her out. Possible, but I wonder about the circumstances. Negligent discharge perhaps? The story is vague. No mention of enemy sniper fire.

Kill one of our - we kill 10 of theirs.

But my question is, who killed her? One of ours, or one of theirs? How many troops have been sniped out of towers, and the word “sniper” never comes up in the story? I’m leaning toward another cause of death...
And being the new Obama gays and gals Army, I would not rule out a love triangle being “settled.” Or a negligent discharge.

Good points. New technology for sniper location is supposed to employed now. Shot from inside or outside the compound?
Hell hath no fury and all that.

Living just outside of Fort Knox, I have the privilege of meeting many young men and women in uniform, who come from all over the country and from all walks of life. For the most part they are decent, honorable, and proud to have the opportunity to serve their nation.
Then on the other hand, I also see the punks and the gang-banger wannabes who strut around, acting all big and bad, with their baggy pants down around their hips, their $200 Jordans, and their obscene arrogance.

I agree. The combat arms are better, but the support units often look like welfare offices. It’s often practically a paycheck program for fertile single mothers.
