For some reason, the memory of Bush the elder's discovery of that fascinating new gizmo called a bar code scanner at the check out line comes to mind.
The substantial difference is that they will be eating cat food when they retire because nonsense like this is completely undermining Social Security solvency. Its like saying that you aren’t going to contribute to your 401K this year.
I can’t think of anyone with less self-awareness than Mitt.
So clueless and out of touch.
Substantial??? What planet is he living on?
I want my muffler /flashback
Mitt Romney. He understands.

The >$400/mo debt the Obama is burdening us with is a far greater issue than the $40 addressed.
Here is the video of Bush using the scanner:

The NY Times created the narrative that you have heard, about his being amazed, etc...and the rest is history.
However, other people there say he was being polite, acting interested, and actually seemed bored. The demonstration, by the way, was an upgraded technology, which could read damaged bar codes, and had the introduction of the scale. If you look at a still photo of the event, there are signs in front of two scanners...ready for a side by side try-out.
The episode did not occur in a random grocery store either. It was an exhibit set up at a grocer’s convention...another indication that this particular scanner was indeed new technology, with some sort of bell and whistle worth buying booth space to show it off.
I’m no apologist for Bush...I just hate it when some BS media storyline becomes historical fact. It was campaign season. Bush made a stop, acted interested in what the locals were showing him, and moved on. Thats the real story of Bush and the bar code scanner.
yeah, well, gingrich said the same damn thing: the House Republicans have to eat it.
I disagree—this whole “tax cut” thing is a farce, as Rush (and, not to be boastful *I*) have been saying for a long time.
The communica tions ability of the Republicans has to get better. And the Senators have to grow some BALLS.
McConnell could have refused to go along: “Hey, why are we saddling new home buyers with $6,000 more debt to pay for the Social Security funding?” would have been a great question and reason to keep the Senate in session and debating this crap.
We are where we are on this stupid issue not because Republicans are wrong—they’re right to want to stop this nonsense. They just don’t know how to street fight Hussein and his asslickers in the media and on Capitol Hill.
They have to learn: do not trust Hussein, do not give him any quarter, and get in his face.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Hussein and his cult are like the scorpion on the back of the frog....
Yeah, you can buy cake and then eat it with $40.
Willaird is a wimp
Well bless little Mittie’s heart for thinking of us “little people”.
As I understand it, the payroll tax is the only source of funding for SS. Such being the case the SS system will go bust long before originally stated.
$40 is 1/250th of a $10,000 bet.
Pandering to the foo stam demographic.
Under Barack Obama’s administration, that same $40 would fund the federal government for about 3 ten-thousanths of a second.
Wonder what Milt will be dining on at the Summer White House near Wolfeboro this evening?
