Romney: $40 Would Make a ‘Substantial Difference’ to American Families

LANCASTER, N.H. – Mitt Romney today said that the $40 many Americans would lose if the payroll tax holiday isn’t extended would make a “very substantial difference” to those who would be without it. “It’ll be the difference between having a meal that includes meat or just Hamburger Helper,” said Romney in an interview with ABC News’ John Berman aboard his new campaign bus in northern New Hampshire. “It could be the difference between being able to take your family to McDonald’s at the end of the week. It means the difference between being able to go to a movie or not going to a movie.” “It makes a real difference to the American people,” he said. WATCH MORE FROM THE ABC NEWS INTERVIEW WITH JOHN BERMAN ON WORLD NEWS AT 6:30 P.M. EST. Romney said that he believes both Republicans and Democrats need to “sit down and work out” a deal regarding the payroll tax extension, and that it was time to “put the sausage in the sausage grinder and come out with a bill that provides an ongoing payroll tax holiday.”

.... “It could be the difference between being able to take your family to McDonald’s at the end of the week. It means the difference between being able to go to a movie or not going to a movie.”

So, per week.

40*52 = $2,080 per yer.
2% of X = 2,080
X = 2,080/0.02
X = $104,000

You better run out and buy a box of it, report back on how much meat you find in it.

The Hamburger Helper mascot is the “Helping Hand”, an anthropomorphic animated, four fingered left-hand glove, which appears in the product’s television commercials and on the packages. AKA Mittens!

That story about Bush and bar code scanners was a lie. He wasn’t impressed by bar code scanners...he was impressed by a new type of scanner that could read torn or damaged codes more accurately. The reporter who ran with it decided your version better fit the “Bush is out of touch” meme that they were using to get Clinto elected. But hey...if you want to carry Newsweek’s water, who am I to judge...
Remember now... We are talking about the media here. Perception is reality... Now argue that is was a smart move on Mitt's part...

Well Duh! How do they expect ya to get meat in it, you have to cut off a finger and toss it in. Just like the mascot shows.

Where to start with this guy?

—He takes Obama’s position on the tax “holiday”

—He equates the Republicans and Democrats “Both sides need to sit down and work something out”.

—Says the “Economy will get better, it always does”

—Faults Hoover for the length of the Great Depression instead of Roosevelt.

How ‘bout them apples, Ann Coulter?

The maximum social security amount per year is $106,800
(so sayeth ehow, http://www.ehow.com/info_7789422_maximum-security-tax-per-year.html )

Which means whoever came up with the $40 is referencing the -maximum- possible savings, not the typical or average.

$41.07 says the TI calculator.

When people got into such a frenzy about the $5 charge per month for using an ATM 0bama took note and is running with the $40 since that would be an outrage if $5 was a frenzy!

For some reason this makes me think that Romney would send out a stimulus check to
everyone once a year and say that's all you need. Then raise your taxes even more
to pay for what HE gave you. He is a RAT IMO and I will not vote for the Assh...

The substantial difference is that they will be eating cat food when they retire because nonsense like this is completely undermining Social Security solvency. Its like saying that you aren’t going to contribute to your 401K this year.
