Chuck Laudner (Iowa radio host): Rick Santorum is the “Tim Tebow of the Republican process”

Tim Tebow has risen to the top in the NFL while giving the glory to God, thereby making a lot of people uncomfortable.

Roy Johnson writes at ESPN:

In a season that should be dominated by the excellence of the Green Bay Packers and their quest for perfection, Tebow has snatched the spotlight and become a lightning rod for opinions — about his skills, and even more, about his faith.

The latter has been largely spurred by his PDFs (public displays of faith), especially the Tebow Bow, in which he drops to one knee in prayer following a touchdown. Of course, now everyone knows it asTebowing.

By whatever name, it has inspired a full chorus of hallelujahs, hand-wringing and even hatred and ridicule.

Indeed. By the same token, Rick Santorum, who is campaigning strongly on preserving the Judeo-Christian ethic of the Declaration of Independence, has been treated with similar “hand-wringing and even hatred and ridicule” in both the mainstream media and the blogosphere….when they have mentioned him at all.

Well…except for me. I’ve been shouting hallelujahs about Santorum for months.

Chuck Laudner now offers an amazing comparison of Tebow and Santorum:

Rick Santorum reached the milestone of visiting all of Iowa’s 99 counties in November, and he’s making return trips now — by car and minivan, rather than bus. Chuck Laudner, a Santorum backer, has been involved in many Iowa campaigns. Laudner suggests Santorum is a bit like the underestimated quarterback of the Denver Broncos who has led the team to a string of surprising victories.

“They’re watching the Tim Tebow of the Republican process out there, working all the way through the 4th quarter,” Laudner told Radio Iowa this morning.

Being both a Broncos fan and a Santorum supporter, I can’t help but agree with Laudner on this one. Y’all are in for a big surprise from Iowa come January 3. Stay tuned.

What a great thought, Rick Santorum is the Tim Tebow of the Republican party !

I heard Karl Rove, on FOX, saying that he thought that we were going to see Ron Paul and Rick Santorum over perform in Iowa, meaning out performing their poll numbers. He said that Santorum has spent a tremendous amount time getting out among the voters in Iowa and that he is really catching on with a lot of the voters.

If Rick Santorum were to be elected President, I think he would do a terrific job. But..........could he beat Obama? That’s what’s important in this election.

Good luck with that though.

An awful lot of people have said that about Tim Tebow, too.

Rick Santorum could be the Tim Tebow of the Republican process, after the front runners are knocked down, one by one. Santorum has the intelligence of Knute and the conservative core of Michelle Bachman and the undying faith of Tim Tebow.

All you have to do is BELIEVE!

"If Rick Santorum were to be elected President, I think he would do a terrific job. But..........could he beat Obama? That’s what’s important in this election."

People write him off largely because of one bad election loss (in a miserable election year for Republicans), and discount his many, other previous successful runs in tough races.

(And it all comes down to certain key states in the end, where Obama is clearly struggling.)

"Uhhhh, no thanks."

I understand. Some people just prefer RINOs.

If every pro-God, pro-life person just sends him $25, or so, it will add up to a lot of money.

And if some can send more, better yet!

This is crunch time!

Rick Santorum could be the Tim Tebow of the Republican process

But last night, Rick Perry declared that he was the Tim Tebow of the Republican primaries.

Santorum is not quite (and never will be!) ready for Prime Time.

Here is why: In 2004, he endorsed Snarlin’ Arlen Specter in the PA Republican Primary for the US Senate when a MUCH BETTER candidate was available: (now US Senator) Pat Toomey.

[I really don’t need to remind y’all how much of an absolute disgrace Snarlin’ turned out to be in his last 6 years in office, do I?]

That, fellow FReepers, demonstrates a monumental lack of judgement and is disqualifying, IMHO.

"Laudner is a radio host???? Since When???"

Oops- you're right. I didn't write the article, but in haste, I mixed up host with supporter in the parenthesis when I saw the "Iowa Radio" link. That's my bad.

Do you also hold it against Newt for endorsing RINO Dede Scozzafava?

btw, Santorum endorsed CONSERVATIVE Doug Hoffman in that race.

I was happy to see Santorum’s pro-God, pro-life values as soon as you open up his website. Some politicians, even pro-life ones, try to bury their pro-life stance.

What I like about RS is his focus on blue collar jobs for manufacturing.
