Tim Tebow: God's Quarterback (must read -- even for non sports fans)
Wall Street Journal ^ | December 10-11, 2011 | By PATTON DODD

Posted on 12/10/2011 3:34:19 PM PST by garjog

Last week, after the Broncos' victory against Minnesota, Mr. Tebow was asked by a reporter to name something memorable that had been said to him in the wake of the extraordinary win.

"I'll tell you one thing that happened during the week that I remember," he said. Mr. Tebow proceeded to talk about spending time with a young leukemia patient from Florida who had just been transferred to hospice care and about how delighted Mr. Tebow was to say the kid's name on television and to let him know that someone cared.

Mr. Tebow may or may not enjoy long-term success as an NFL quarterback. His current streak will run its course, and the Broncos might well move on to another quarterback, one who is more obviously suited to the pro game.

But win or lose, Tim Tebow will compete hard—and when he's done, he will thank God and remind all of us that it's just a game.

Eloquently written analysis of sports star and his faith. I am not much of a football fan, but was choked up by this inspiring story.

The Lions were 6 and 2 when they blasphemed against God after they sacked Tebow.
They are 1 and 3 since.

The Lions were already cursed long before certain dumasses decided to “Tebow” Tebow..

Detroit sux and now the Lord knows it too.

I don’t think much of Tebow’s career prospects as an NFL quarterback, but there’s no getting around the fact that this guy is 100% class and a model of human character.

Yes, even if you’re familiar with Tebow, it’s worth a read.

Stories like this remind me of that remarkable scene in the movie Field of Dreams where Ray Kinsella (played by Kevin Costner) meets Dr. Archibald Graham (played by Burt Lancaster)on a dark street in small-town Minnesota. Graham had played half an inning of one game in the major leagues decades earlier, then faded into obscurity and never made it to the big leagues again.

Kinsella: "Fifty years ago, for five minutes you came within -- you came this close. It would kill some men to get so close to their dream and not touch it. God, they'd consider it a tragedy."

Graham: "Son, if I'd only gotten to be a doctor for five minutes ... now that would have been a tragedy."

I think you've been listening to the liberal crowd of ESPN scum who have been saying exactly the same thing for the past two years, especially since it became clear to them that Tebow was a serious (and proud) Christian. Now they can't wait for him to fail so they can pat each other on the back.

Screw those scumbags and their "Tebow is a nice young man, but...". Personally, I think Tebow will have a long and successful career in the NFL.

FRegards,
LH

There are thousands of people doing things like this that the media never covers. That said, I believe Mr. Tebow would do this same thing whether he was in the spotlight or not.

What's that saying, "Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching".

All the commentators pretend its Tebow’s playing style that offends them — they crap all over him and say he is a terrible quarterback, and try to come up with “logical” explanations for why the Bronc’s are doing well.

So many people are addicted to football, its great that there is a proud Christian in the public eye.

I love watching the man play football. But we need to be carefull not to elevate one person too high in the sense that nobody is without sin. If Tim stubles off the trail somewhere a long the line, the media will report it and try to make him look like Jim Bakker even if it is not to that extreme.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Tim Tebow is a wonderful courageous young man.
He is disliked by the cowardly hypocrits in the sports media because he is a courageous Christian and Pro-Life.
I watched Tim’s great career at Florida. How many quarterbacks have won 2 national championships?
Tim does have things in proper order:first,God;second, family;and third your team.

Tim Tebow is a winner. Could you imagine him being coached by Tony Dungy? I can see the progression in his throwing style already and he’s the epitome of the 12th man every game. I’ve never liked the Broncos that much but now always want to watch them play...the enthusiasm that Tebow exudes on all of his team-mates.

Glad to hear their showing the Bears-Broncos game here in SW WA. What with Tebow’s and the Broncos success, they well may be showing it nationally.
