Newt Needs Cain to Hang Around
Fox News ^ | December 2, 2011 | Chris Stirewalt

Posted on 12/02/2011 1:34:58 PM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

...The trouble for Gingrich is that Cain isn’t doing what Perry is and hanging on. Cain maintained his Real Clear Politics Average high-point of 26 percent, essentially tied with Mitt Romney, for only two weeks. And he may go front frontrunner to hash mark in less than a month.

Gingrich would have been better off if Cain’s candidacy would have slowly withered. Gingrich wants to be in a two-way race with Romney and to have only to appear more conservative and more consistent than Romney.

Gingrich might survive daily releases of new skeletons from his past...[snip]....But only if juxtaposed as a binary choice with Romney.

Gingrich the known commodity looks good when the only other contender on the right is the rotting hulk of the Cain campaign, but if Cain is out of the picture..there’s still time for conservatives to reconsider their pick.

With Cain leaving...there is a chance that some other candidate will rise, or rise again, to rival Gingrich. It could be Rick Santorum’s turn on the horse or perhaps the start of a strange new romance among some conservatives for Jon Huntsman, whom many seem to think is more consistent than Gingrich and more conservative than Romney. And for those resigned to a Romney nomination, a protest vote for Ron Paul may look increasingly attractive.

But Perry looks like the best bet to challenge Gingrich. He’s got the money and the personnel and, thanks to being the governor of the state with the most Republicans, has a pretty durable core of national support. He may be too badly damaged by his debate blunders and the Social Security scare tactics employed by the Romney campaign to make it stick, but Perry looks to be the guy who will give Gingrich a run for his money.

Nothing scummy about them or my remark.

Cain is staying in is my vote.

But that want be his major announcement tomorrow. He has Irrefutably proof that Ginger White is lying. Either his text message or proof that he was somewhere else the night of the Mike tyson fight.

If Gloria Cain is anything like the Black women I know and he had been diddling those skanks. No way in hell would be going home to see here. You really think Gloria Cain would be chairperson of Women for Cain if she could not trust him.

One question for everyone that thinks Cain is sleeping with Ginger White. You ever see a black lady find out her man has been sleeping around, now can you imagine it to be with a unemployeed white skank?

IMHO

I neither support nor oppose Huntsman. But I do oppose reading one of the scummiest remarks ever regarding a decent man like this.

I agree that family members should be off limits until they make themselves part of the campaign. Huntsman's daughters have clearly done this.

That being said, the man is a libertarian Republican, not a Conservate, and this is a Conservative website.

Not one person is going to care about the presidential debates beyond the entertainment factor.

Those who are going to vote for Obama will vote for Obama, regardless of whether he debates or how he performs in those debates.

Those who are going to vote for the not-Obama will vote for the not-Obama, regardless of whether he debates or how we performs in those debates.

The debates are a not a significant basis for choosing a nominee.

Perry, Santorum, Bachman: time to get back to talking about conservative principles for saving the nation.

Let’s see these three get the chance to really show their conservative stuff again.

Obama will never debate Newt.

I like Newt's alternative plan if Zero passes on debates. He said he will follow Zero around and give stump speaches as if they had a debate where Zero went first - just like Lincoln did to Douglas.

Perry is looking better everyday. No character questions and his position on the issues is solidly conservative. I won't be sorry to see Cain go, but I wish it was because of his erratic positions on the issues. I really don't think he did anything wrong with those women in the work place and this latest problem sounds more like “no good deed goes unpunished” with helping this woman.

I'm miffed as to why Perry isn't picking up at least SOME of the people that left Cain. Why these people would go 100% to Newt Gingrich (potential amnesty) makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever.

All I can figure is the core of these people got hyper-offended at Perry and cannot/will not give him another chance. Plus, I figure some of them think the Perry camp is behind some of the Cain-women innuendo. To date, there is simply no evidence of that.

Nothing else makes any sense to me.

I actually like Perry more than Newt, but he lacks essential skills.

Like what kind of essential skills?

If Cain drops out I will probably move to the Perry Camp.
