Republicans ... get smart
Boortz.com ^ | 11/28/2011 | Neal Boortz

Posted on 11/29/2011 2:12:04 AM PST by Oshkalaboomboom

OK, Republicans. Since you’re so religious and all – it’s time for a little “come to Jesus meetin’”. If you’re not familiar with the term, click on the link. It’s time for a little harsh dressing down.

Do you realize what we have at stake in this election next year? This isn’t just about taxes, pork spending, social security benefits and repairing bridges. This is about saving our Republic. Do you know we’re already past our life expectancy? Economies and societies built on the rule of law, liberty and economic freedom have this troubling tendency to destroy themselves at around the 200 year mark. This happens when people figure out they can use the ballot box to get their hands on someone else’s stuff.

Well guess what, folks? We’re there. We’re past there. We’re on the ropes. We’re old – and durned near on our deathbed.

We have a president who was not raised as an American. Oh, I know. He’s a citizen and all that … but he was not infused during his formative years with how fortunate he was to have been born in this country and what it means to be an American. He lived in Indonesia, for crying out loud, for much of his childhood; that and Hawaii. Well guess what? I lived in Hawaii too, and I can tell you that as a student in Hawaiian schools you weren’t exactly saturated with American culture and history. Hawaiian history? Sure. And that’s understandable. Hawaiians are very proud of their heritage. But U.S. history? Only what the schools absolutely had to include. And that private school, Punahou, that Obama went to in Honolulu? Here’s another “guess what?” My sister taught there; right around the time that Barry was a student. Again – not a place where you’re going to learn what a blessing it is to be an American and a citizen of the greatest nation on earth … ever.

Our president thinks that American greatness comes from government. He believes that free enterprise is inherently evil. He is robbing us of our economic liberty as he institutes a command economy. He believes in using tax policy for income redistribution rather than raising the revenue needed to pay for the basic (Constitutional) functions of government. He said he was going to fundamentally transform the United States of America, and we stupidly didn’t ask him just how he planned to do that. Now we know. And now we know that for our children to have half a chance of improving on the standard of living that we have enjoyed – or even living as well as we have -- this man has to be sent back to a community organizing office behind a dry cleaner on the South Side of Chicago … STAT.

That brings us to Newt Gingrich and this little puddin’ storm over his comments on immigration. Newt suggested that we might not want to be rounding up people who have lived in this country – though illegally – for 25 years or so; during which time they raised families, started businesses, paid taxes and helped drive our economy; and ship them back to Mexico. As soon as those words were out of his mouth Michelle Bachmann – desperate for a way to ignite voters – started screeching about “amnesty.” In no time we had the ObamaMedia falling over itself to parrot the “amnesty” line and call Gingrich out on strikes.

Let the progs and libs play this thing any way they want … but you Republicans; you GOPers … could you make a special effort and try to get serious here for a minute or two? Think! I’ve done it on occasion, and I can promise it’s not painful.

Do we need to enforce our immigration laws? Absolutely! Does the border with Mexico need to be secured? No doubt. And Gingrich has said he would do just that. But a bit of realism needs to creep into this conversation.

I love analogies, so try this one: You come home from work to find a pipe has broken. Your home is flooded. What is the FIRST thing you do? Do you sit there and argue with people about how you’re going to get all that water out of your home? No. The FIRST thing you do is shut off the water. The same logic applies to our immigration problem. The first thing we do is secure our borders. Gingrich says he will shut them down.

OK … so the flood has stopped. NOW you start to clean up the mess.

Republican voters need to mature a bit on this issue …. Not one of your candidates has actually articulated a plan deport all illegals. Not one. And do you know just why that is? Because every single GOP candidate, including Bachmann, knows full well that there is no way in the world we’re going to round up every illegal in this country and send them south.

Try to imagine what the world will think of us (and it does matter) if we suddenly start looking for people who entered this country illegally 25 years ago; people who then married an American citizen, started a business, raised several children – all citizens – and who is now a vital and integral part of the American economy and his community, not to mention a husband, father and grandfather. So we find these people, and start shipping them back to Mexico. Can you hear the screams from the international community? Try these two words: “Ethnic cleansing.” Oh, I know. In reality we would just be expelling law-breakers … but you try to tell that to people we want to like and admire us that when they see that most of the people on the green busses have brown skin and dark hair.

I’m particularly amused by Bachmann’s (and other’s) claim that letting these people go through a process to gain legal residency status in America would be a “magnet” for more illegal immigration. Earth to Michelle. Our country is a magnet. Our way of life, our freedoms, our opportunities … all a magnet; a magnet much more powerful than giving some long-time illegal (but otherwise law-abiding) residents a break. What is Bachmann’s solution? Are we going to combat illegal immigration by making the United States a country to which nobody wants to emigrate? Seal the borders! Take the same actions to protect our borders that Mexico takes to protect theirs!

There’s a lot of anger on this issue. Understandable anger. We’ve had a succession of politicians and leaders who have steadfastly refused to do anything about what I call the Mexican invasion. And when a state (like Arizona) does try to address the situation, our federal government sides with the Mexican officials to go to court to get the enforcement actions stopped!

If it were not for the 17th Amendment to our Constitution, this story would read completely different .. but that’s another column.

So, Republicans --- instead of insisting that your candidate seek revenge on people who sought freedom and opportunity many, many years ago; try demanding that your candidate promise to do something to stem the tide as soon as he’s sworn in. Shut off the water. Close the borders. Once that’s been done we’ll seek out the illegals that pose a threat to our society and greet them with a clenched fist. Those who contribute to our society and want to join our family? Let’s greet them with an outstretched hand.

Out of all the Boortz rants I've read in the past few years this has to be the stupidest. It's a pretty typical argument for Boortz, using the exception to bolster the rule, but his ranting about successful illegal business owners when his own state has over 40% of children of illegals on government assistance brings new meaning to the term "red herring".

His other argument is the same old silly one every worthless politician uses, the one about rounding up 20 million illegals and putting them on a bus back to wherever they came from, only this time he's actually worried about what the rest of the world will think about us. The truth is we can let them go back the same way they came in, which is by themselves, if we tightly tie shut the string on the goody bag. Go after businesses that hire illegals. Cut off free medical care to anyone who walks into the emergency room. Deny an education to any child whose parents can't prove citizenship. Take away the tax-exempt status of churches or charities that coddle illegals. When we quit making it profitable to break our laws the lawbreakers will leave on their own. If you want to humor Neal's stupid rant save the successful business owners for last and make them either pay for their transgressions or go home. If their business was that great somebody else will fill the gap they leave behind.

Feck off, Neal. Go peddle your pandering blather to the Newt groupies while the rest of us try to clean up the mess you don't have the stones to clean up yourself.

Getting Obama out of office is very important, and so is not allowing the voter base to get flooded with newly minted Democrats or phony “citizens” who never were.

I’m not sure Boortz is worth the sturm und drang. So much of this wrangle has gone without much of a charted illegale management plan on the part of any GOP presidential hopeful, Bachmann aside. Unfortunately Bachmann doesn’t seem to be viable, for other reasons. I believe all the hopefuls should be forced to list their proposed policies in black and white. Even though Cain’s is probably going to say “ask the experts.”

It amazes and puzzles me as to how many city councils, mayors, police departments, governors, presidents, judges, congressmen and senators, have colluded in protecting these foreign invaders.

The common link is in getting elected or re-elected and the unions. The unions are strongly pro-illegal alien, in fact they are pro-open borders and a one-world-government. They make no bones about it.

Andrew Stern

SEIU is the largest union and fastest growing in the WORLD, not just the U.S.
They control the government and corporations throughout the WORLD.
They want to represent every man, woman and child in our country.
He admits to using activists to force his policies.
He wants to turn our country into a Democratic country, just like what is happening in the mid-East.
This was posted in April 2008. He is touting forced healthcare even then. This is when he was only dreaming about Obama.
He says he will rebalance the power of big corporations and employees in the Free Choice Act.
He will give citizenship to every illegal in our country.
He wants to turn our country into a multi-lingual country.
10% of his people, 200,000 will be the leaders of change, to change America.
The gap between the rich and the rest of us is growing far too wide.
We are in a moment where we can change America.
We are going to have to take our SEIU effort to a new level.
We are going to put $10 million dollars into a bank account to combat politicians that defy us.
We are on the verge of changing our country.

“And we are beginning we have offices now in Australia and Switzerland and London, in South America, in Africa. We have been working with unions around the world and what we’re working towards is building a global organization because ‘workers of the world unite’ is not just a slogan anymore, it is the way we have to do our work.”

“We are trying to use the powers of persuasion, and if that doesn’t work, then we’ll use the persuasion of power because there are governments and there are opportunities to change laws that affect these countries. I’m not naive, we’re ready to strike.”

“There are opportunities in America to share better in the wealth, the rebalance of power and unions and government are part of the solution.”

According to this article, Andrew Stern not only makes frequent trips to the White House, he makes frequent trips to China and China’s unions.

“I get in trouble on Glenn Beck saying, ‘Workers of the world unite!’ It’s not just a slogan,” Stern says. It’s critical, he adds, for US and Chinese workers to see each other as allies, and he argues that efforts such as his can help shift the ACFTU (Chinese Union) in a direction that will make it much more representative of its hundreds of millions of members.

“Andy Stern, A Member of Obama’s Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Says ‘Worshipping the Market’ Has Failed America”
“Andy Stern, former head of Services Employees International Union (SEIU) and a President Barack Obama appointee to the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform, said on Monday that the free market has failed the country and American workers. He made his remarks at a conference of the Campaign for America’s Future in Washington, D.C., on Monday. (CNSNews.com/Penny Starr)”
SNIPPET: “(CNSNews.com) – Andy Stern, the former head of the Service Employees International Union who now sits on President Obama’s National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform, said the United States needs an economic plan that does not include “worshipping” the free market.
“America needs a 21st century economic plan because we now know the market-worshipping, privatizing, de-regulating, dehumanizing American financial plan has failed and should never be revived, worshipping the market again,” Stern said in remarks at the annual conference of the liberal activist group Campaign for America’s Future in Washington on Monday.
“It has failed America and everyone that works here,” Stern said.
Stern said the changes that Obama and Democrats in Congress have made are nothing short of a “revolution” that will move the American economy from national to international.”

Think about it for a moment, it’s not very hard. The unions need money to buy politicians. They have openly said they will select our Republican candidates.

When we allow illiterate peasants into our country, they need subsidies, they need government assistance. That government assistance comes with union government employees that are forced to pay dues to the unions.

Illegal immigration is a closely guarded secret, no one wants us to know how many there are. So we go to the elementary schools where they list races, English learners and free lunches. I use www.greatschools.org . My local schools is 100% Latino and English learners, all on free meals. They get fed breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus there is free baby sitting by SEIU employees.

I’ll give you an example, Reseda Elementary School. It is in the Los Angeles area. http://www.greatschools.org/cgi-bin/ca/other/2342#toc
85% Mexican with a state average of 49%
88% free lunch with a state average of 52%
Home languages of English Learners, Spanish 89% with a state average of 85%

The story of American jobs and labor is deeply intertwined with predatory Federal, state and local taxation and regulation....

South Koreans sleep soundly on their border with NORKS because of American Taxpayer dollars and the American GI.

Why can’t Texans, New Mexicans, Arizonans and Californians?....BECAUSE

Illegal immigration is THE KEY to the perpetuation of the status quo in DC......

Predatory tax and regulatory policies-actions that basically serve to perpetuate and grow governments-leave what business is left in the country seeking disposable labor.

Illegal Labor is the Feds out for preserving the status quo regarding Taxes and Regulation. Interestingly, that is WHY the Feds encourage in-state tuition etc for illegals under-the-table -their presence providing disposable labor allows Federal, State and local regulatory and tax excess in the status quo to continue

Immigration is the ultimate litmus test as to the candidates in question commitment to meaningful regulatory and tax reform. If they are wishy-washy on the subject...they have no real intent to disturb the DC status quo...

Real ”leadership” is that which will place Flyover Country’s interest ahead of the Feds....haven’t yet seen anything meaningful anywhere from anybody to indicate that might happen. We have just one more election cycle to make that happen via rule of law. Otherwise its the end of the run for America.

Michelle B and other’s would only be happy if the American Consulates and US Embassy’s issued more Visa’s to white europeans. This is a distinct possibility, but as an employee who has spent the past eight years supports Consular Sections where the non-immigrant and Immigrant visa’s are issued, it looks like the US has a policy to bring to our Shores a slice of humanity from every racial and ethenic group on the Planet. The FACE of the United States of America is going to be a Mini-United Nations - a place where hopefully SOCIALISM does not destroy the INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS & FREEDOMS necessary under our “crony” CAPITALISTIC Constitutional system.

Here is my problem with Newt, he is pro-amnesty and anti-American. Not only does he want to give amnesty, he wants to import more aliens to compete with our citizens that are seeking a job.

From: http://www.newt.org/solutions/immigration

3. “In-source” the best brains in the world
…Allow easier transition from an F (student) visa to an H1-B (high-skill) visa.
…Allow qualified foreign students to transition immediately into the American workforce.

4. Allow foreigners, who want to spend money, invest and create jobs in America to do so.

(What he is saying here is to do away with the $1 million minimum investment required for an EB-5 program that allows foreigners to move here. Open business based on the foreigner’s skill to raise American capital, as long as he employees people for 10 years)

6. Create a path to earned legality for some of the millions of people who are here outside the law.

(Oh, there are only 8 to 12 million illegal aliens)

…”A citizens’ review” “in individual communities” to “determine who will continue on this path to legality, and who will be sent home.”
(to insure that communities remain segregated)

…”those here outside the law will be granted Temporary Legal Status”
(All of them)

…”must be able to prove that they can independently pay for private health insurance”
…”proficiency in English within a certain number of years”
(Is he talking about those that have already been here 25 years? My neighbor wouldn’t qualify)

…”pay a penalty of at least $5,000”
(Each of their kids cost the taxpayer approximately $130,000 for kindergarten thru 12th grade)

…”prove on a regular basis that they can support themselves”

OK Boortz, lets compromise. All illegal aliens who have used our freedoms and opportunities to enrich themselves and their families and have done so in a manner true to the American dream can stay. Any illegal who has taken other peoples money to sponge off that other persons American dream can be deported back from whence they came. How many do you think would qualify to stay Neal? 3% sound reasonable? 6%? You might be surprised by how low that number is. We should do what we did in the beginning again, take the best and deport the rest.

Boortz' analogy regarding the flooding home is a poor one, because it assumes elements with no motivations. A better analogy would be a living thing, like rats. Rats come into the city because they want food. You could stop more rats from coming in by building a huge wall around the city, but the rats would still have the motivation to try to get over/under/and around that wall. A better approach would be to stop the citizens of the city from leaving their garbage out where the rats can get to it. Require garbage cans and spend money to keep the streets clean.

I am all for enforcement, because it isn't just illegals that come across that border. The problem is that there are still other ways to arrive in the U.S. and we will still have the 12-20 million illegals that are already here. Lock down illegal employment and the illegals will leave.

OK … so the flood has stopped. NOW you start to clean up the mess.

I agree with Boortz that Obama is a bigger threat than any or our mock-worthy RINOs but I don't think any Republican primary candidate must have a "plan" to "clean up the mess". For too long we've been taking step one for granted and the easy statement above is just a continuation of that. I want to see a detailed plan on how to stop the flood. THEN we'll discuss cleaning up the mess. After all this is yet another mess CREATED by Democrats with their sanctuary cities, refusal to prosecute landlords who rent to illegals and feel-good benefits to the "undocumented". And once again we fall into the trap: the Democrats create the mess and demand the Republicans must have a plan they approve of to clean up their mess. Focus on step one. Period. That's going to take enough effort. If successful, we'll talk about follow on steps. No one has yet accomplished step one (not even Reagan) and we need to stop looking past it as if it's a fait acompli.

Yeah, we're almost certainly going to end up with a RINO. At this point it comes down to which RINO can conservatives have the most influence over. Personally I don't think the answer to that question is Newt (since he's not even listening now).

Should we secure the borders the same way we did under the last “amnesty” program? Probably the worst thing Regan did while in office. It opened the flood gates for those that wanted in on the US give away programs. While I don’t think we can make our boarders impenetrable we should make it tough to cross. Why don’t we hold our Desert training on the border? We should also at the same time make it uncomfortable to be here illegally. As it is now with sanctuary cities and anchor babies all you have to do is make it past the line and the freebees are there for the taking. If illegal’s can get one fake ID why not really cash in and get multiple ID’s and double or triple your take. Make an example of a few by deporting them and confiscate all their illegal gains. The problem will then be solved by self deportation

Amnesty is nothing more than government growth hormone.

The 30 million or so illegals get representation simply by being here and getting counted in the census. What is the cost of paying those 40 or 50 congressmen their 6 figure salaries? How much do we pay their staff? How much are their expense accounts and benefits? What is the cost of running a congressional district? How many pork projects and earmarks does a congressman seek for his district?

All of those costs come before the obvious costs that we always talk about.
