Stop peddling the lie that Palin led to Giffords’ shooting
Charleston (WV) Daily Mail ^ | November 25, 2011 | Don Surber

I have great respect for retired Navy Captain Mark Kelly’s service to this nation. I also admire the courage of Democratic Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. See Thursday’s post, “God bless you, Gabrielle Giffords.” But I find Captain Kelly’s tactics for selling his new book to be insulting , misleading and plain out wrong. More than that it is disturbingly dishonorable.

From the London Daily Mail:

But it was the lack of any contact from former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin that was ‘surprising’ said Mr Kelly.

Citing the book, Mr Morgan said that it revealed some ‘interesting insights’ into ‘political colleagues and people that [Gabby Giffords] had worked for and against.’

Speaking about a map for which Palin was responsible, with crosshairs over certain states including Arizona, Mr Morgan said that the Alaskan ‘doesn’t come out of this very well, I don’t think, because there was a woman who at the time had been putting these crosshair things on her website and stuff, including Gabby,’ he said.

Sarah Palin’s map had nothing to do with the attempted assassination of Congresswoman Giffords. The man who shot her knew nothing of the map and had stalked the captain’s wife for 3 years prior to the shooting that left 6 people dead.

Nope.

I will never watch Martha Vasquez (local NBC) again. She was one of the most eager to blame bumper stickers, practically spitting as she said it.

The shooter needs to be decorating an Oak Tree hanging by a rope.

Stinkin’ DIANE SAWYER included that Giffords’ district was under a Palin ‘target’ in her special on Giffords’ recovery last week.
Mark Levin played the audio and deemed it, in his best voice of disgust “DISGUSTING”.

Surprised I don’t see on on this thread here yet, or did i miss something? Is it in the article? If not I’m sure Sawyers’ comment helped prompt the article.

O’Reilly had Sawyer on (via live remote) for an extended peek ( 5 minutes?) at her special the very night it was on. One’d have no clue from her tone etc she was going to pull this brazen partisanship off.

If O’Reilly ever has her on again, shame on him.

It was a despicable act by Diane Sawyer.

I also admire the courage of Democratic Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

I hope she recovers but getting shot is not courageous and neither is the recovery, recovering is what most would try to do.

You mean Sheriff Roscoe P. Dupnik, whose agents shot an Iraqi war vet dead in cold blood.

In her hate-filled special propaganda section about how evil conservatives, and especially Palin, are, Sawyer directly tied 1) ObamaCare protestors, 2) a shot window (no arrests, ZERO proof that anyone but their own staff shot it out, like leftists always do), and 3) that cartographer’s map -— to the shooting.

I have no doubt that many, many, many people in the country believe that our protests against a government-rationed health system are directly to blame for the incident.

That’s what disgusted me even more, the number of Republicans who stood by and let her get slandered by the media and the Left for this.

Well put! I can’t emphasize enough how much faith and respect I’ve lost in the whole GOP due to their inability and/or unwillingness to defend one of their own against such outlandishly scurrilous attacks as this. Whether it was here, when the media tried to blame Palin for complicity in mass murder, or back in 2009, when there was a coordinated Dem effort to bankrupt her and her family into millions in debt, the GOP never lifted a finger to help her. Hell, they practically piled on!

I’ve supported and exclusively voted GOP my whole voting life, but after witnessing all this these past three years, I feel absolutely zero affection or allegiance to the Party. I’m just thoroughly disgusted with them.

The tragic death/killing of a federal judge(who happens to be a Republican)just doesn’t measure up to the tragedy of Gifford-to some people. There is something awry in our societal structure.

I think a lot of Republicans were really completely stunned by this. Palin had nothing to do with it...and all of a sudden, even the US president is implying that she did.

I remember being utterly confused when the press said that the shooter was influenced the “Tea Party” and “climate of hate” supposedly created by Sarah Palin. He had no connection with either the Tea Party or Palin, and I think many of us were blindsided by the attack.

There should have been more defense, but it was such an off-the-wall assault, bearing no connection to reality, that I think many average GOPers felt attacked themselves and had no idea of how to respond. It was bizarre.
