I love the old mccain, it is not amnesty if you call it a different name, and the border is secure. How many times did insane say the border was secure, he even agreed to allow convicted felons to get a pardon, but no it was not amnesty. LOL, keep trying to sell that newt kool-aide. No one will buy it.

Yes that was about the time he decided it was time to move beyond Reagan and get on the couch with Nancy.

If anything, Gingrich has modified his policies to put them more in strp with mainstream conservatism since then. Nice try though. The "Alliance For Climate Protection Ad" ran in the spring of 2008. He has since disowned it and called it a "mistake" and called Pelosi "despicable," "dishonest"," "vicious,""trivial," and "a liar." Nice try though

Fellow Georgia Congressman Bob Barr was the driving force behind Clinton’s impeachment. Gingrich had nothing to do with it, especially considering that he was doing the same thing as Clinton at the time.

That isn’t realistic. That government can’t check all those things.

Thanks for reminding me. This is from the Gingrich proposal:

There is no possibility that the federal government could run such a program without massive fraud and counterfeiting. On the other hand, American Express’s rate of fraud is less than one tenth of one percent.

We can build on the universal system of biometric, tamper-proof visa documents that all visitors must have, and invite a private-sector firm with a proven track record to monitor the guest worker program.

For guest workers, the new tamper-proof, biometric cards will replace the e-verify system, which has some promising elements, but is too error-prone. Employers will be able to swipe prospective employees biometric cards, and immediately be able to confirm that these workers are in the country legally.

Once a legal guest worker system has been built with real-time, 24/7 verification, there will be no excuse for employers hiring people illegally. At that point the economic penalty on illegal employers should go up substantially.

The new guest worker program should be designed using the proven principles oand it should be easy, convenient, inexpensive and practical for both workers and employers.

Well, we will see, but as a Texan I can tell you that one thing that just about everyone here agrees on is no to illegals and it is very high on the list of things to vote for or against.

Just about all of our trades are now illegals, a great deal of our crime is illegals, Newt being soft on illegal will not win him many votes in Texas.

What the hell are you talking about? Is Rick Perry your governor, or isn't he?

Sorry, but I see Willard as the analog to McCain in 2008. Plain vanilla and unthreatening. There is no analog to Newt.

“Gingrich's solution would.....facilitate the integration of highly skilled professionals.....”

Almost ALL foreign students in the USA who graduate with a B.S. in science or engineering are eligible for a one year work visa that can be renewed for up to six years.

These new foreign grads are gobbled up by American corporations because they drive starting salaries down, and foreign grads are more compliant than USA born grads.

These foreign grads compete directly with USA born grads for the same jobs.

Almost all foreign students in the USA who complete a Ph.D in science, engineering, law, or medicine can move directly onto a path for PERMANENT Green Card status in the USA.

The political argument that current USA immigration laws block high talent foreigners from working here is absolute bunk!

These tests include ALL of the following: a criminal background check, community ties, proficiency in the English language, and an ability to support oneself via employment without the assistance of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other entitlement programs. Applicants who meet these qualifications will have to pay a penalty of at least $5,000 and have to prove on a regular basis that they can support themselves without entitlement programs and pay for health insurance or be deported. Most importantly, these people would not be granted citizenship (and the right to vote that comes with it). The only path to citizenship to be granted would be for those who did not come here themselves, but were brought here at a young age by their parents. Those people could obtain citizenship in return for a period of military service.

And just how would he find the people to give the tests to?

We don’t want a guest worker plan, and it wouldn’t work.

I guess you meant those tests would be for those applying for visas. Now if he meant to apply these tests to illegals, that would be different. Would he check out everyone on Medicare, Medicaid, SSI, etc. to see if they are illegal and deport them? Just how would he track them down?

What the polls show, increasingly, is that Newt Gingrich is solidifying his position as the anti-Romney

He’s also solidifying his position as an anti-conservative.

Gingrich was actually getting good press at CNN.

There’s a reason for that.

I wrote Gingrich off for being a party before principle guy. He endorsed the extremely liberal Republican Dede Scozzafava, along with “the log cabin republicans”, while Conservatives were supporting the Conservative party candidate Doug Hoffman who was ahead of Scozzafava in the polls, and he had the support of most Conservatives, and the endorsements of Sarah Palin and Fred Thompson. Dede Scozzafava, who was liberal even for a RINO, ended up dropping out of the race and endorsing the democrat candidate who went on to win a close race. It didn't surprise anyone following the race, except someone like Gingrich who's suppose to be the most intelligent candidate we've ever seen. That happened in the 2009 New York Congressional special election, which wasn't too long ago at all.

Now he's come out with his version of the “compassionate Conservative” by implying there are Conservatives who are taking inhumane stances on illegal immigration by saying he would be humane. We are sick of hearing that kind of crap, because it's the same crap we always hear from career establishment Republicans, and I don't want anything that has to do with the establishment. They are one of the reasons for candidates ignoring illegal immigration, and thinking they will pick up the Hispanic vote when they give these illegals amnesty, which is just ridiculous. They also don't seem to know the difference between legal, and illegal Hispanics.

My best friends grandparents came from Mexico, but he's a Conservative against illegal immigration, and he has nothing in common with illegals because he's an American. He also doesn't like illegal thugs trying to start fights with him because he can't speak Spanish like he's a traitor to his race and Mexico, when they can't even live in that piece of crap, it's so bad.

A horrible Illegal immigration policy is one of the main issues that ruined Perry for good overnight, and got his supporters moving over to Herman Cain. This should destroy Gingrich, and hopefully they go back to Cain, or go to him for the first time if they haven't supported him yet. Herman Cain is something new, and I'm willing to go with that over the same old crap. Cain would at the very least let the liberal media, and the establishment Republicans know they don't have the power to decide our candidates any longer. We choose who we like regardless of them.

I would like to see Rush Limbaugh endorse Herman Cain, and start giving him the coverage he was not long ago. I think Cain's tough stance on illegal immigration, and all the positive things Limbaugh was saying about him were helping him out a lot. Herman Cain is a good position to take advantage of this stupid plan on illegal immigration by Gingrich considering the Gingrich type see candidates like Cain, who are serious about stopping illegal immigration, as the heartless and inhumane Conservatives who's ridiculous words are meant for, and just happen to also fit the average Conservative voter. The problem is those are just offensive words that don't come close in actual meaning when explaining the majority of Conservative views on stopping illegal immigration. He might as well just call anyone who disagrees with him on the issue as racist like liberals do.

There’s a good reason for that, and it’s tied in with the effusive comments we heard about “Maverick” McCain back in ought-eight.

So the same dynamic that gave McCain the nomination after rising from third place is at work here? So is that a smart strategy or stupid on Newt’s part? We’ll see what the polls say about it next week.
