Your tactic to put words in peoples mouths they have clearly stated as otherwise is outright lying....you have lost your credibility entirely.

Enforcing current immigration law would solve the entire illegal problem in one year.

That simply isn't possible the way things are currently run....there are far too many loopholes in the system and why it doesn't get inforced...it has to be changed to be effective.

She survived the McPain endorsement in 2010. What’s a Newton after a McPain?

Your vote for Barr would have mattered only in NC, I believe it was.

All of her FReeper supporters who love her now will turn on her like an East Texas Neutra Rat on a snake. She’ll be called everything from a traitor to a political whore.

Wanna bet. These are the same people who forgave Herman Cain when he couldn't give a straight answer on abortion.

I happen to be one of them.

And what is that skill you are referring to?

“.....it [the system] has to be changed to be effective.”

Disagree.

E-Verify and civil lawsuits can bring illegal immigration to a screeching halt.

Employers have no excuse for not using E-Verify, which screens out 99% of illegals.

Private sector lawyers can financially motivate whistle blowers.

USA citizens harmed by the employers can sue.

A GOP presidential candidate who vigorously urges private citizens to sue employers for lost wages or lost job opportunities would change the political equation in a matter of weeks.

Your solution is no solution at all.

It is slow motion political and demographic suicide for Conservatives.

Cain is the one who has said enforce the law already on the books.

I like this quote, because it is indicative of the fundamental difference between Cain and Gingrich. Cain is a remarkable man, and would most likely make an effective leader, but he tends to speak in broad generalizations without stopping to consider whether what he is proposing is in fact realistic. You and the other 10% of this country who favor deportation for ALL illegals need to come to grips with the fact that a total deportation scenario is not going to happen, no matter how much you want it. Putting aside the impractical logistics of finding and moving 10-15mm people who are trying very hard not to be found, Republicans could control the executive and legislative branches, and liberal activists would still waste years of our time tying up such a plan in courts. Have you learned nothing from what went on in Arizona? So, the end result of seeking a deportation only plan is that you get little or none of what you are seeking, and the GOP alienates 20-25% of the population for the next forty years in the process. A wise leader seeks a better solution. You may hate Gingrich's plan, but I promise you that if you vote for Cain expecting mass deportations, you are going to be sorely disappointed.

Gee, most would call that flip-flopping.

I doubt it. Support for everything Nancy Pelosi, and everything she stands for was never a Gingrich policy. The add said the two "don't always see eye to eye, but that Republicans and Democrats need to learn to work together wherever possible.

It's always a good idea to avoid criticizing things you don't fully understand.

Newsmax plays to an audience that is fixated on immigration, so they cherry pick material for their “reporting.” I happened to be listening to Limbaugh that afternoon too. I don't disagree that Limbaugh said that the immigration policy would hurt Gingrich with voters who were inflexible on the issue, he certainly did not criticize the policy himself. In fact, Limbaugh specifically said that he did not really have a problem with Gingrich's plans, because Newt wasn't talking about citizenship (and therefore voting rights). He repeated this point several times on the program. This is a good example of why Newsmax is not taken seriously, even on this website.

Fellow Georgia Congressman Bob Barr was the driving force behind Clinton’s impeachment. Gingrich had nothing to do with it, especially considering that he was doing the same thing as Clinton at the time.

Really? When did Gingrich perjure himself before a grand jury?

Don't tell me that you bought into the MSM and Clinton apologists' lie that the impeachment was just about adultery. I would have expected more perception from a long-time FReeper.

Possibly true, but I seem to have a lot of company this time around, judging by the number of Freepers who swear they will hold their breath ‘till they turn blue if their personal favorite is not the nominee.

You have missed the point. Whether EVERYONE gets deported or not is immaterial. We will have to disagree about how difficult it would be, because I think it would be laughably easy to be rid of all 30 million, but it is immaterial.

What IS material, is that any policy that does not recognize these people as criminals will encourage MORE people to come here illegally.

Any policy that ENFORCES the letter of the existing law, or pays bounty hunters to find visa overstays, or that encourages lawsuits against sanctuary cities by victims of illegal alien crime, or that requires eVerify be used by all employers and landlords and utilities and schools and banks and wire transfer services and insurers ... laws that basically make living here illegally more difficult ... will DISCOURAGE more illegal aliens from coming and encourage some to leave.

By your logic, because there will always be thieves and murderers no matter what we do, we should make murder and thievery legal so it looks like we don’t have a problem. Trying to reduce crime statistics by pretending things aren’t crimes is just living in a fantasy world.

I think you’re arguing with the wrong person here. I agree with pretty much everything you are saying. The disputes I was responding to were (1)That a system like EVerify and regulations on entitlements could solve the problem on their own, and (2)That Gingrich’s plan would grow the government substansially over any plan depending on the principles in point one. Your response concedes that they can’t.
