Second county Democratic leader pleads to charges related to voter fraud

The former political director of Oakland County’s Democratic Party pleaded no contest Monday to charges related to voter fraud.

Jason Bauer, 27, is scheduled to return to court in January for sentencing.

Bauer and co-defendant Michael McGuinness, the former chairman of the Oakland County Democratic Party, were charged earlier this year with three counts of uttering and publishing and three counts of perjury. Both have now pleaded no contest, which not an admission of guilt but is treated as one by the court.

Bauer was also charged with three misdemeanor counts of violating the Michigan Notary Act.

Authorities accused the two men of fraudulently entering the names of three people as “Tea Party” candidates for county commission and state Senate seats to appear on the November 2010 ballot.

Bauer’s no contest plea came after prosecutors and his defense attorney worked out an agreement.

“It made the most sense, and it was an expedient resolution of the matter,” said Michael Dezsi, Bauer’s attorney.

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson and other county officials had asked for a grand jury to look at filings made by Oakland County candidates for a group called The Tea Party. Signatures didn’t match their voter registration cards, and one candidate said he hadn’t filed to run and was living out of state.

Officials linked the filings to Bauer, who notarized candidate filings. He later resigned from his position with the county Democratic Party, as did McGuinness.

Oakland Circuit Judges James Alexander will sentence Bauer Jan. 11.

See ya! Mike McGuinness already pleaded no contest

Bauer and McGuinness forged notary papers when they tried to get fake candidates on the ballot under the name "The Tea Party." In addition, McGuinness was on the staff for Jocelyn Benson, who was the candidate for Secretary of State. She was part of Soros's people.

LOL these idiots had people listed as “tea party” candidates who were too young to vote and at least one of their candidates is an Arizona resident who didn’t even know he was running.

What else would you expect from a criminal organization whose motto is “Vote early and often”?

And the frigging RATS continue to scream and yell about how unfair and disenfranchising it is to require picture ID when voting.

Snort!

The secretary of state is working on purging the voter rolls of dead and illegal voters. Naturally the social security administration and INS refuse to help.

It occurs to me that if the county chair of the party is 27 - he is a fall guy.

The fake Tea Party had UAW help. He probably is the fall guy, although I know a couple guys about 32 on our side who are good enough to pull something like that off without the fraud. "The labor party." He would not try it today though. These two screwed up and panicked.

Party Chair is a nice title, but has a lot of responsibility and a very low pay. Probably minus $2000 at least each year. Chair has to have and go to all the fundraisers, and to state committee events. It's for ambitious staffers, power hungry elected officials, retired folks, or die-hards with a lot of time available in evenings and weekends. A lot of people don't want the position.
