I am also OK w/rehab centers and sanctuaries for wild animals that, either temporarily or permanently, cannot be returned to the wild for various reasons. Of course this presupposes that the animals will be humanely treated, the public will be properly protected and the caretakers are qualified professionals.
I am less in favor of wild animals being used for entertainment purposes; but, will concede that, in a free society, people have the right to do this; I just won't support it w/my funds.
What I don't understand in this instance is why the persons responsible for these animals could have possibly thought it would be a good idea to have this type of event in close proximity to where these valuable and helpless animals were being held in captivity. ‘Just plain financially stupid and morally bankrupt.
