A downstate teacher has been suspended after showing segments of Comedy Centrals The Daily Show in his class.
Rhett Felix, a first-year government and law teacher, was suspended for six school days and will return on Nov. 28, Eureka High School Superintendent Randy Crump told the Tribune on Wednesday. Crump declined to confirm the reason for the suspension, other than to say Felix had violated school policy.
Mayor Scott Punke, a lifelong Eureka resident and uncle of a student in Felixs class, said he joined parents who complained to the school after the students were shown segments from The Daily Show starring Jon Stewart.
I did, because of the language and the sexual overtones that were included in the show that were being shown to sophomores in high school, Punke said. Many of the children dont even have TVs in their houses because of religious beliefs.

Good
Taking out the garbage is always a good thing!
Liberalism is a mental disorder, and that teacher is very sick. Shoulda been fired.
too bad we can’t punish teachers for pushing communist propaganda.
Like today my niece is supposed to do a project about “class differences” surrounding Thanksgiving.
“class consciousness”, “Bourgeisie” are all used. These are Marxist terms that nobody other than commies use.
Your niece should have the opportunity to grow up in a town like the one in the article. I'm pleased such a place still exists.
The district is paying him to work, not watch TV.
...looks like another “wonderful” public school in flyover country has gotten itself infected by the educational establishment (as if they weren’t already, LOL).
Exactly right. What would you POSSIBLY learn from watching the boob tube in your government class. He should be fired for dereliction of duty.
Showing it in a class about Humor would be Child Abuse.
Obviously ripped this idea off from Cameron Diaz in “Bad Teacher”.
“Bourgeoisie” is also used in Aesthetics to describe a certain kind of Philistinism: people only concerned with material things and media fed ideas. Flaubert used it this way and it has little to do with Marxism.
This is sociology class. Its all about class consciousness and class divisions when it comes to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I was just referring to your statement that the term is only used by Marxists.
