Russian official: Arrival of Serbs would be "repatriation" (Kosovo Serbs seeking citizenships)

MOSCOW -- The possible arrival of Serbs to Russia, says Russian ambassador to NATO Dmitry Rogozin, would represent "a treasure" for his country.

Dmitry Rogozin (Tanjug, file)

Rogozin spoke after announcements that some Serbs from Kosovo, faced with the ongoing crisis in the province, would seek Russian citizenship.

But the diplomat welcomed even the idea that they might move to his country - which is experiencing "great demographic problems".

Those Serbs would easily adapt to the new surroundings, "and there should be no issues with employment", according to Rogozin.

He also added:

"Serbs from Kosovo should be accepted to the program of repatriation of Russians. Serbs are not foreigners to us. This is a nation that can find a second homeland in Russia and precisely because of that the repatriation program should be applied."

The fact that Serbs turned to Russia to be granted citizenship is testimony that they are desperate because their own country cannot help them, and see Russia as their last hope, continued the envoy.

"Under such circumstances, it is necessary to find out whether these people are ready to move to our country," he told Interfax news agency, adding that it was possible that Serbs from Kosovo would make this request as well, "if there is real physical threat to their lives and families".

Rogozin also believes that Russian political parties can already organize to help with the transfer and accommodation of Serbs to appropriate regions:

"I cannot imagine the opposite - how could Russia turn down such a request?"

How can Russia refuse to help fellow Slavs? If asked, it will certainly come to their assistance.

I'm starting to like the Russians and Russia more and more every day.

And, ashamed as I am to say it, I'm starting to dislike my own country under Obama and our corrupt media.

Russia likes to play on both sides of the Islamic fence, i.e. they recognize danger in the Balkans, but they prop up Iran and help them build nukes.

But then again, I guess America plays on both sides of the same Islamic fence, just at different locations of the fence.

They said the same of the Volga Germans a century ago, before sending them to labor camps.

I believe it was Stalin who did that. He also destroyed hundreds of Orthodox Churches that today's Russians are rebuilding.

Judging them by Stalin doesn't really work.

Serbs are seeking for Russian citizenship not to resettle in Russia.
They want an Osetian precedent at work to bring Russian troops and kick some muzzie ass.

20/20.

The problem is that Islamofascist terror in Kosovo is orchestrated, aided and abetted by the U.S.of A.

The reason? $1T of mineral wealth in Serbian possession.

Russia will not start WWIII on behalf of Serbs. That is what Rogozin interpretation meant.

Couple of days ago lamebrain Congresswoman Schmidt called Kosovo Albanians the best American allies in the region. What an omen. Kosovo Albanians are notorious for supporting the most heinous regimes that ended in dumpster of history - Otomans and Nazi Germany.

Like so many errors, based on a partial truth.

You know enough of history to have heard that there were "Volga Germans", but not a single substantial fact.

There were millions of German settlers invited in to settle the lands but that was in the mid to late 1700s, 250 years ago, NOT "a century ago".

And the same Christian Russian Empire that invited them in 250 years ago was no longer in existence when the anti-Christian tyrant Stalin tried to destroy all that was good in that society, including the industrious Volga Germans and the tens of millions of others. But that's what demon-possessed tyrants do.

I'll bet you don't even know that Stalin was neither born in Russia nor ethnic Russian, so it's even more absurd to imply that "they" invited in some people, then tried to kill them later. They were two diffent worlds, separated by 200 years.

Several hundred thousands Germans were settled on Volga River during reign of Katherine II who was German herself. Stalin was born in part of Russia named Georgia, his father Dzhugarov etnically was Ossetian, his mother Georgian, them were both Russia’s citizens, so was Josef Dzhugaroshvili AKA Stalin. He did not destroyed Orthodox churches, Bolsheviks and Trotskists did for they were immigrants. When Stalin has defeated his political rivals in the Communist party he cancelled Lenin’s decree about repressions against Orthodox Church in 1934. He even helped to hierarchs and Church during WWII, may be his goal was to win hearts of millions ordinary people and Western allies or maybe he sympathized to Church because he spent several years in his youth in Orthodox seminary.
German Volga river settlers were not sent to labor camps. About 1 million of them were deported to Kazakhstan and Kirghizia in 1941 because of fear of fifth column like in Europe. By the end of WWII about 6 millions Germans were deported from European countries; there was no human rights and PC in the World by the time.

It appears that your comprehension of the English language needs a little polishing. The Volga Germans were exiled to labor camps at a time that is "almost a century ago" when compared to today.

I'll bet you don't even know that Stalin was neither born in Russia nor ethnic Russian, so it's even more absurd to imply that "they" invited in some people, then tried to kill them later.

I implied nothing. I stated a simple fact. I also know that Stalin was an ethnic Georgian. Who is to say that the current regime won't do the same to the Serbs?
