Wyoming Congresswoman to Endorse Romney
NYTimes ^ | 11/14/2011 | ASHLEY PARKER

The presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts is scheduled to announce the endorsement of Representative Cynthia M. Lummis of Wyoming on Monday morning, adding a Tea Party voice to its chorus of Congressional endorsements.

Ms. Lummis, who will serve as Mr. Romney’s Wyoming campaign chairwoman, is a solid fiscal and social conservative, and the Romney campaign hopes her support will underscore the already growing narrative that conservatives are rallying around Mr. Romney.

“Governor Romney’s experience as both a chief executive and conservative businessman makes him highly qualified to lead our nation at this time — a time when the size and scope of the federal government threatens to overwhelm us,” Ms. Lummis said in an e-mail released by the campaign.

At overt attempt to redefine “TEA Party”.

Tea party wasn't around in 2008 when she was elected.

A lot of politicians call themselves tea party. It does not mean they are.

Conservatives hopping on board the RINO bandwagon. I wonder if Mittens will hand Free Republic a year’s worth of donations in exchange for dropping opposition to his candidacy.

Money can buy a lot of endorsements.

I’m not surprised he’s buying up party support. It helps to cement his image as the “inevitable” candidate.

Just like Slick Willard, alright.

Is she that good-looking? All image and no substance springs to mind. I’m just an ornery Westerner, mind you!

Cynthia who? Who cares.

Mitt Romney is antithetical to the core values of the TEA Party on nearly every issue. Even so, the MSM and/or establishment Republicans are working to ensure he is the Republican nominee. Given that, we should all care.

Well... I’ll grant he was a successful businessman. But that has no connection with his politics. Ms. Loomis should have known better before giving him that coveted endorsement!

lol! I'd wager JR would not give any serious consideration to that offer.

Those of us who live in Wyoming care.

I guess it is time to get started on replacing Ms. Lummis.

Look behind the curtain and there was a phone call from Karl Rove. I don’t know what was promised but I’m imagine it was enough to win the Congresswoman over.

No matter what this stooge does, he is flat in the polls. I don’t see the base swaying to these gimmicks and endorsements anymore. If they did, Mittens would have this whole thing wrapped up by now.

You’re probably right. It bothers me that this is being reported as “TEA Party” support for Mitt Romney. Actually, it more than bothers me.

You are correct.

Mitt has a ceiling of 25% support. It's a solid 25% but it's still only 25%. And that goes back to this time 4 years ago.

I take that to mean 75% don't want his sorry arse.

I had to laugh when it described Mittens as a "social conservative."

That alone tells you the New York Times has never met a real conservative.

If Mitt Romney is a conservative, then conservatism has lost all sense of coherence.
