Goldman Sachs International Advisor Mario Monti Is Italy's New Prime Minister
Zero Hedge ^ | 11/13/11 | Tyler Durden

Not on even a Sunday is the headline barrage over:

MARIO MONTI ASKED TO FORM NEW ITALIAN GOVERNMENT MONTI TO MAKE COMMENTS AFTER ACCEPTING OFFER TO LEAD ITALY MARIO MONTI THANKS NAPOLITANO FOR OFFER TO FORM GOVERNMENT MARIO MONTI SAYS ITALY MUST BE PROTAGONIST IN EUROPE MARIO MONTI SAYS HE'LL ACT TO SAVE ITALY FROM CRISIS

And so the international advisor to Goldman Sachs drones on. In the meantime, the €300 billion in BTP sales is set to resume in just over 13 hours.

Yet the reason why the EURUSD is less than jubilant on the news is that Silvio apparently has just come back from the dead and has treatened to "pull the plug" on Monti.

Goldman Sachs....AGAIN!!!

Perhaps some very astute team of investigative reporters could do some PROFOUND research into the leadership, motives, etc. behind Goldman Sachs.

There should be mass protest against the developments in the streets of Athens and Rome, but people have not yet processed what is happening. When they do, it will in all likelihood be too late. Monti and Papademos are there to execute a short lived "transition" job, and to then vanish.

To sign a whole bunch of things into law which facilitate yet another round of bailouts and other support measures for their financial industries, and which will cause enormous hardship for the people (you ain't seen nothing yet). Afterwards, someone else can take over and claim it's not his/her fault.

From Automatic Earth

This I think is the most likely scenario. By the way, Italians had better watch their gold. Italy as of today has the third largest reserves. Tomorrow, who knows...

All the markets are really happy about the death of European Democracy — as the Technocrats and Money Men take over.

GS has one interest in all this...to ensure the debts are paid, and to ensure debts not paid have timely interest payments.

Sadly for most of southern europe, that is contrary to their national interests.
