Hungary was the latest European country on Saturday to confirm higher than usual levels of radioactivity in the air, although like others it maintained that this did not pose any health risks. Iran tested a nuke?

Maybe. But, the likely explanation is in the article:

In Poland, a spokesman for the atomic energy agency told AFP that the cause may lie in Pakistan, where officials were forced to repair a leak at the nearly 40-year-old Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (KANUPP) on October 19.

Sounds suspiciously like someone testing a distribution method for a “quiet dirty bomb”.

Yeah, that's why Northern Europe went into a frenzy with Chernobyl.

I was just watching the "Patton 360" epi on the Battle of the Bulge, and
they mentioned the "Siberian Express" that hit right the battle began.

And the yearly Saharan Desert dust deposited on Florida.

Depends on the altitude. The Chernobyl fallout went primarily north and east.

Latest rumor is that the Ukraine may be the source. From what appears to be an anti-profit blog. So take with a grain of salt.

UPDATE: EU Radiation Leak, Ukraine Plant Comes Under Scrutiny

The Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine is coming under scrutiny after some conflicting stories have come out about the plants condition. One report says all reactors in Ukraine are on alert conditions, another claims Zaporizhia shut down after a problem but that no radiation was leaking out.

Ukraine is insisting the problem at Zaporizhia is fixed and the unit should be at full power tonight. That is just a recent problem though and the radiation in Europe has been around for three weeks.
