There are plenty of guilty parties at Penn State but Paterno isn’t one of them.

Plea deal? I bet he doesn't return as coach next year.

"The Patriot-News of Harrisburg reported Saturday that a source close to the investigation said Paterno would not be charged and that he would testify against Sandusky at trial."

I’m not modifying anything. I’m simply telling you what the grand jury report says. If it says that Schultz was called to a meeting with Paterno and Curley in which Paterno reported the allegations, then I believe that’s what happened.

Joe Paterno legacy = covering up child sexual abuse.

Total B.S. Paterno is one of the good guys.

Another modification. You are being edged closer and closer to the truth.

I’m not disputing that and I will happily drive these two bastards to prison. What I’m saying is that Paterno reported the allegations to Schultz, who oversaw the police. That Schultz did not report on the allegations to the police force he oversaw - the police force with jurisdiction - reflects poorly upon Schultz, not Paterno. The grand jury saw it this way also.

Sandusky, Curley, and Schulz are the priests.

Paterno is the Bishop.

Total B.S. Paterno is one of the good guys.

B.S. The dude was caught banging a ten year old in the locker room and Paterno said nothing as it was covered up and never reported to the police. Paterno kept silent as this guy kept banging ten year olds for another seven years.

Actually, Paterno knew years before 2002 that his assistent coach was banging boys.

Christ Almighty, it’s like debating with Bill Clinton. Use your brain for a second.

I am not modifying anything. That I say the same thing using two different phrasings does not mean I am modifying what I am saying. It means I am not being a robot.

Paterno reported it to the AD, not Schultz. Paterno knew that nothing was reported to the police and that Sandusky was banging boys. His silence in telling.

Exactly. I’m hearing the same damn excuses I’ve heard from priests and bishops over the past twenty-odd years. “I thought I was under no obligation to report it to the authorities”.

Well, in Pennsylvania, because of the strict laws on reporting pedophilia, whether individual or institutional, a bunch of high up administrators of the Philly Diocese have been charged by a Grand Jury for the coverup. They will probably do some time.

You say something and I correct you. Your next post is changed ever so slightly so that it is closer to the truth but still not correct so I have to correct you again. I feel like Clinton's lawyer is writing for you!

“Just for the record it was not reported to ANY police agency.”

Not reported after a previous 1998 assault was investigated. That this was at least the 2nd allegation makes them even more culpable.

Again, you’re just making shit up.

Paterno was not silent. He testified under oath to the grand jury.

Paterno did not know that an ex-employee was a child rapist. He knew that he was accused.

The grand jury report states rather clearly that Paterno told Schultz, who oversaw the police, about the allegations.

I anxiously await your next blatant falsehood.

Paterno was not silent. He testified under oath to the grand jury.

AFTER the investigation implicating him was opened ... about seven years AFTER the event.

The grand jury report states rather clearly that Paterno told Schultz, who oversaw the police, about the allegations.

I see you have modified 'reported' into 'told' and 'head of the police' to 'oversaw the police'. We are getting closer to the truth!

Do you want me to spoon-feed you the grand jury report in monosyllabic bites so you can understand it? Not only have I already refuted your baseless accusations - the facts that allow me to do this are available for all to see.

There was a two year investigation with a grand jury. You are an armchair warrior on a message board. If something even remotely as damning as what you claim had happened, it would be everywhere.

“Sandusky, Curley, and Schulz are the priests.

Paterno is the Bishop.”

Or Paterno is the Cardinal. Some Freepers are apparently not aware what power Paterno has at PSU. One story goes that the President and AD of PSU showed up at his house a few years ago to tell him to retire. He told them to bug off! He is still coaching at 84...

Maybe he’s the Pope!

This is a blot on his name and on the name of Penn State’s athletic department.

Please see the post above where I explain how it is, in fact, possible to convey the exact same meaning using multiple phrasings. I understand it’s a waste of time to argue with somebody who is trying to tell me there’s a difference between telling somebody something and reporting something to them. (Not that it matters, but I believe that the report uses the word “reported.”)
