Karl Rove has been rather chatty of late. He’s taken a hammer to Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) over the birther nonsense and to Herman Cain for basic unpreparedness. MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell thought Rove was “trying to circle the wagons around Mitt Romney as an inevitable nominee.” While I saw where he was coming from, I had a different take. Rove isn’t circling the wagons around Romney. He’s circling the wagons around the Republican Party as a legitimate political party in the United States.
Rove is not alone in this endeavor.

The Constitution Party will be my second choice. They have a few things I don’t like, but none of them having to do with Life, Guns, God, Family, Marriage, Borders, or Taxes.

Rove and Ed Gillespie are in cahoots to raise money in the Soros-type numbers for their beloved Mike Castle type candidates everywhere. What Rove is really trying to save is the Vote Buying Big Government Progressivism on the Republican side. It’s time to circle the target on Rove, and expose him as the Progressivist Big Government Loving “Republican” he truly is. And for all the appropriate charges leveled at Democrats for being responsible for the Housing Crisis, lest we forget that disaster has plenty of Republican Fingerprints all over it too. Namely, “Dubya” himself. Here’s what “Dubya” Bush had to say at a “White House Conference on Increasing Minority Homeownership” in 2002 about making housing more affordable to narrow the “Ownership Gap” he saw as problematic:
“An ownership society is a compassionate society. Two-thirds of all Americans own their homes, yet we have a problem here in America because fewer than half of the Hispanics and half the African Americans own their homes. That’s a homeownership gap. It’s a gap that we’ve got to work together to close for the good of our country, for the sake of a more hopeful future. We’ve got to work to knock down the barriers that have created a homeownership gap. I set an ambitious goal. It’s one that I believe we can achieve. It’s a clear goal, that by the end of this decade we’ll increase the number of minority homeowners by at least 5.5 million families.”
I ask you - what’s the difference between that mission and anything the Democrats wanted to do? So Rove & Dubya, ever looking to Buy Votes anywhere they can so they can be in “gubmint” forever, decided to sign on wholeheartedly to the very housing disease which destroyed the US Economy, all in an effort to buy off constituents because he said his “Conservatism” was “Compassionate”. Bankers even joked that “Dubya” (and this means Rove too) was so fevered with making this housing so affordable ASAP that these bankers coined the tongue-in-cheek acronym “NINJA” to describe the criteria Bush & Rove wanted them to apply: No Income, No Jobs or Assets - it’s no problem. “Get them in homes so they’ll vote for Dubya!!” And the irony is this was the very policy which forced him to sign TARP - the Bank Nationalization Bill - while mumbling he had to “abandon” his “free market” principles to save the free market”. Does anyone think he saved it??? This was just like the Bush Rovian attempt to buy Seniors with a brand new entitlement, Part D Medicare; just like their massive push for Amnesty in 2005, which failed because of true Conservatives (like Tom Delay) in the House. And lest we forget No Child Left Behind, the very legislation responsible for Atlanta teachers having weekend garden parties and all of them just “passing” students unbeknownst to them, so as not to lose the Bush Rove largesse from that legislation. There was no vote Rove & Bush didn’t wanna try to buy.
Rove has never made any kind of speech or claim that lower taxes are correct on principle because people ought to keep more of their own money because they’ve earned it. Roves point in lowering SOME tax rates is to generate more money into “gubmint” so Progressive Republicans like him can start a spending spree to buy as many votes as they can so they can stay in “gubmint” ad infinitum. It’s time he gets called on the phony he is. If we don’t, he’ll be the biggest detriment to Tea party candidates than the Left ever could be.
Why are they (Rino’s/Rove/GOP leadership) worried???
Hell they;’ve hitched their wagon to a loser from the previous presidential election cycle, just because it’s supposed to be Romneys turn!!!
This WILL be the end of that nonsense, and give us another 4 years of Obama...They’ve been screwing this process up since the Republicans started losing seats in 2004...
I have a good feeling that this is going to be more than a defining moment in American politics...
We are going to see another 4 years of Obama, with a continued feckless “psuedo-conservative right”, or we’ll see the rejection of that and a replacement of the status quo...
Its going to take a lot of political courage from the few elected officials who are representing us properly, and the electorate (basically us) to get this done...

I was explaining this to a liberal friend who thinks obama is done. He was stunned. Then I explained how Pro-Lifers vote and why. We are pragmatic up to a point, but we will never vote for a pro-abortion nominee.
I would think that after Romney refused to back the Pubs in Ohio a lot of fiscal conservatives will think twice about supporting him.
Rove is a brilliant tactician in messaging and issue identification. However, he comes from that blue blood elitist wing of the Pub party that doesn't like social conservatives, or the great unwashed main street crowd. If the Pubs blow it either because of open primaries, or because the conservatives split their vote between Perry and Cain we could end up with a third party that propels the Rats back into dominance. I'm convinced the "blue bloods" would prefer the Rats are in charge rather than a bunch of middle class heathens.

Exactly! They are liberals, cheap ass liberals, but liberals none the less and they will vote accordingly where conservatives are involved.
Should a non-elitist approved candidate win the primary they will not be supported and should they win the general election the Republican liberals will throw in with the democrat liberals and not bat an eye in doing so to oppose the conservative, write it down.

One of the things I like about Cain, Perry, Bachman, Gingrich, and Santorum is that none of them come from blue-blood families.

I think the premise is, "we can't win unless we get a split of the Democrats' bloc votes, so we'll race 'em to the bottom in a bidding war for the most benighted and feckless votes in the land."
Someone on an earlier thread said that if Romney got the nod, that Palin and Trump would form a 3rd Party. Hey, I’m down for it. I’m tired of there not being a friggin’ dime’s worth of difference between the corrupt Dems and the corrupt Pubbies. I’ve been on the inside of political campaigns and I tell you the truth; they are brutally two-faced and power hungry. Most of them would cut their mother’s throat to keep their power and money.
