PORTLAND, Ore. -- When Occupy Wall Street protesters took over two parks in Portland's soggy downtown, they pitched 300 tents and offered free food, medical care and shelter to anyone. They weren't just building, like so many of their brethren across the nation, a community to protest what they see as corporate greed.
They also created an ideal place for the homeless. Some were already living in the parks, while others were drawn from elsewhere to the encampment's open doors.
Now, protesters from Portland to Los Angeles to Atlanta are trying to distinguish between homeless people who are joining their movement and those who are there for the amenities. When night falls in Portland, for instance, protesters have been dealing with fights, drunken arguments and the display of the occasional knife....

It’s a winning coalition; trust fund rastafarians, anti-semites, communists, Odingo supporters, LGBTers, feminists, homeless, felons, La Raza’s, old pony tailed hippies, black nationalists AKA the Democrat party. Let’s form a new society based on their ideas. What could go wrong?
With the free food and shelter being provided this is a no brainer.
Love the story that was all over Fox today about the OWS girl who was complaining about her $5000 computer being stolen - guess she doesn’t believe in redistributing the wealth......
Don’t forget the “toe-sniffing” occupiers in Toronto. That about completes the weirdness spectrum.
This is it—the absolutely BRILLIANT strategery-—CLOWARD-PIVEN THE OCCUPIERS!!!!! Just overwhelm them with the needy, and paralyze their infrastructure with people demanding stuff of them that they can never provide—EXACTLY AS THEY HAVE PLANNED TO DO TO THE BANKING SYSTEM FOR THE LAST 40 YEARS!!!!!!
So let’s all stop bathing, round up some nasty=ass fleas, grab a bottle of muscatel and a urinal, get out there and OCCUPY THE OCCUPIERS!!!
Do it for the Gipper.
I don't know about Portland, but the nearest large metroplex to me has numerous homeless programs. They aren't popular due to rules and the breaking of those rules. They turn into dangerous places.
That could be what is happening.
I wonder if the OWS folks are smart enough to make the correlation, lol.
LOL! What a riot. The homeless people were there first. The OWS people are just moving into their space so they might as well take advantage of it.
BWHAHAHA, spoiled, Marxist, trust fund brats thrown in with nutty and dangerous homeless drug addicts looking for free stuff. This ought to be fun to watch. Welcome to the real world punks.
Why not just rent a bus, lure the homeless with offers of free food, then drop them off at a OWS near you. :) If the Democrats can do it on election day, why can’t we? It would be a lovely taste of “redistribution” for the naive.
Cities and towns do it all the time. In Des Moines, I was with the unemployment office for years and don’t know how many times I sent homeless people to social services for their free one-way bus ticket to Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, etc.
“On the opposite side is the “A-Camp” — for anarchist. It’s where the city’s anarchist faction and long-term homeless sleep.”
I love it. They have told the anarchists where to sleep, and the anarchists are doing what they are told. Nothing like having obedient anarchists.
That cartoon needs to go viral. LOL.
Obviously someone else NEEDED the Computer more than she did.
She should feel better knowing that she gave more to “Charity” that Al Gore did when he was Vice President.
