California plan(s) to launch their long-promised cap and trade program to fight global warming starting tomorrow (Oct. 20, 2011).
(Not coincidentally) Tomorrow’s Wall Street Journal will include these two headlines that are up already online:
Japan Reconsiders Plan to Cut Carbon Emissions
And, EU Weighs Pullback on Cutting Emissions
So MA becomes our lab rat for RomneyCare, and CA becomes our lab rat for CapNTax. Let’s see which state suffers the quickest self-destruction.
Note to California... there has been no statistically significant global warming in the last decade. A strong La Niña is going to be dominating the weather again this year so we are looking at another cold winter and crappy spring and summer. Bankrupting the state over fashionable but highly questionable and largely disproven scientific theory might not be the greatest idea.
Good. Let California bankrupt itself. The dumb jerks deserve it.
I think folks are self-selecting into winning and losing locations.
Sadly California which is a beautiful place chooses to lose.
Facts are irrelevant to these people. It is a religion at this point, and you can’t get them to change their minds. It is also part of the mindset that lefties have about only being allowed to view certain topics from their POV.
California could be committed to a mental facility for "Causing harm to self and others."
It does fulfill the criteria for Probate Court ordered commitment.
Obviously a moot point, but it does illustrate how bizarre and dangerous are leftards.
I would love to see a demographic study on the population flight from California...how long will it take to reduce its electoral value?
I agree. Most lefty causes seem rather anti-human. I look at the environmental movement as just another way the various governments can control the population.
I predict California will be the first state to cede from the Union. It will attempt to join Mexico.
David victor Hanson absolutely nailed it when he wrote about two Californias. The productive people here in this state are tortured by all this insane progressive legislation because you have “skin in the gameâ€, versus the illegal and welfare recipients are immune because they have nothing to lose. The state is a lost cause, I just pray for a massive earthquake so that it will put this place out of it’s misery.

This stuff used to make me angry. This state is now hopelessly suicidal. Now I just chuckle and giggle as I read this ridiculous garbage and wonder when it’ll all end and how.
The voters went against most of the rest of the country in 2010 and did so fully aware of what and who they were voting for. They have no right to complain when it all comes crashing down. Thank heaven there is unlikely to be a bailout. A California crash might be the only thing that will wake up California voters.

The sane minority in CA unfortunately has to watch the insane majority send the whole state over the cliff.
In debt up to their ears, they find more and more ways to drive businesses out of the state and raise taxes and the cost of living for the citizens. They have never met a social program they didn’t like, they have never met a tax they didn’t like, and they apparently enjoy running up the debt as much as Obama does.
