Jim DeMint: I am not endorsing Mitt Romney

South Carolina Republican U.S. Senator Jim DeMint downplayed speculation that he is preparing to endorse Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, saying reports were little more than “fabrication.”

“That story is a fabrication made up of anonymous sources that obviously have no clue what Senator DeMint is thinking,” DeMint spokesman Wesley Denton said. “He has said over and over again that he is not leaning toward any candidate yet and may end up not endorsing in the presidential race.”

I'm glad to know he's not preparing to endorse Romney but I don't care for the "Politician" speak. He should solidly come out against RINO Romney and endorse a true Conservative(CAIN!) Might have to send Sen. Demint an email....

I case anyone was living under a rock.

We must elect a President in 2008 who is up to the task, and I need you to encourage Mitt to run. ... As a leader who has spent most of his life in the private sector, Governor Romney will call on America's strength and character to solve problems and secure our future.” - Senator DeMint

Cain has said DeMint would be a great VP choice for him.

Whew! I think DeMint knows that he would take a serious nosedive in support if he endorsed Romney in the primaires. The gop political landscape has significantly changed since the tea party revolution.

Does anyone if Palin will be endorsing Cain, or has made any recent statements about whether she will work for a candidate or not?

Hell no Jim wouldn't endorse Romney. I didn't even know this sort of absurdity was a rumor. Cain is a lot closer to DeMint than anyone else in the brew at this moment.

Actually, I can see why he might decide to not endorse anyone depending on who the candidate turns out to be. He could just say anyone is an improvement over Barry and leave it at that. If Romney is the candidate, don't expect to see Jim trying to rally the troops on his behalf rather than honestly saying that voting for Romney is making the best of a bad situation and promising to try and keep Romney in check if he's elected.

JMHO

Never did believe this was true. Sounded like the hacks in the Romney campaign know full well their guy has HUGE credibility issues with Conservative Voters. This was probably a Romney campaign leak, a leak that had no more credibility than the Conservative bona-fides of Mitt Romney.

Thank God.

I saw the FR thread when this rumor first begun. Usually when some lib-wad starts agitating against conservatives - Many FReepers usually swallow it whole and start trash talking as if the rumor was true.

Fortunately - most FReepers recognized it as the BS it was.

In May 2008 my primary choices were Huckabee, Romney, and McCain.

I voted for Romney and have never been embarrassed to say so, on FR or anywhere else.

Give me a conservative to vote for instead, and I'll gladly do so.

If you start defining a RINO as anyone who has ever supported a RINO, or supported someone who supported someone who supported a RINO, or supported......

.......you wind up with no one left. I don't choose to go that route. Jim DeMint is conservative enough for me.

I haven't heard a thing of late but I will check.

Her last post on her FB page was this:

Restoring America Together

I don't know what that implies other than suggesting a unified front in restoring our nation.

When she said she wasn't running, I took her word for it. I don't expect a third party run.

OTOH, her endorsement at a critical juncture would be solid gold and should not be stated until it it can have maximum impact. She knows this and is biding her time I expect.

The tread in question.

DeMint to Endorse Mitt Romney For President?

Look at the comments. It saddens me to see so many gullible FReepers

If Sen. Demint isn’t Conservative enough for someone then I don’t know many who would be....He has endorsed Romney previously but besides that I can’t think of many other complaints against his Conservative Cred. Unlike our “Other” SC Sen. Graham....I could go on for days.LOL!

Holy mouse poopers, Batman!! I don't know how I missed that but I'd like to know which Lindsey Graham staff folks were the "Republican operatives" that spread that load of dung around. It's sounds exactly like the sort of thing Graham would help Romney spread in hopes that Jim wouldn't nip it in the bud and it would help Romney in SC.

It just goes to show what a pair of dim bulbs Graham and Romney are that they think Jim would come out and deny that as soon as he caught wind of it.

I supported Romney in 2008 but that was because it was either McCain ( before Palin ) or Huckabee. And I didn’t like the fact I was supporting Romney but I couldn’t stand McCain or Huckabee. Today is a different ball game there are some better choices.
