Romney's Smoking Gun Picture
The American Thinker ^ | October 17, 2011 | Thomas Lifson

Does Mitt Romney have a political death wish? When I heard him utter the phrase, "There are plenty of reasons to vote against Mitt Romney...," I cringed, imagining endless repetition of this sound byte in the attack ads that will be the basis of the Obama re-election campaign, funded with hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign cash.

Why on earth would a smart guy like Romney hand Obama a video moment so damaging to his cause?

Then there is this, a picture surfaced from the past, and certain to become ubiquitous once the GOP is committed to Mitt:

[BIG snip]

As if to drive home the Democrat critique, for inexplicable reasons during an election campaign, Romney announced a plan to tear down a mere 12-million-dollar beach house in swanky La Jolla, to replace it with a dwelling four times as large. That is literally livin' large. Sure, it would make a great summer White House, but that's getting ahead of ourselves, isn't it?

Is the Romney family really so desperate for housing space that they are willing to hand Obama another visual symbol of how rich and out of touch he is?

Romney, we are told by establishment Republicans, is the smart choice for nominee, because his moderate positions (such as implementing the prototype for ObamaCare) will appeal to independent voters. Maybe so, but Mitt has handed his enemies propaganda gold in a campaign that promises to be the dirtiest ever, and fought by the other side over issues of personality, against an incumbent who, however inept his presidency may be, is still liked by a majority of the public.

Aug 24, 2011.........."The former Massachusetts governor is getting some heat for his $12 million purchase. The beach house is intended for part-time use and news of Romney wanting to bulldoze the house just to build a mansion in its place is hard for most struggling Americans to swallow. But then again, the multi-millionaire is free to spend his millions as he wishes.

In the past few years the Romneys have unloaded some real estate. They sold their 6,400 square foot Colonial mansion in Belmont, Massachusetts where the couple raised their five sons for $3.5 million. In 2009 they sold their 9,500 square foot Utah ski lodge for $5.25 million.

They still own a townhouse in Boston, which is the couples’ primary residence. The Romneys purchased the townhouse in 1997 and have made additions and improvements to the property since then. They added tennis courts, a boat house and additional bedrooms. They also own a $10 million lake front summer house on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.

The Romney campaign said construction on the house will not begin until Romney’s campaign ends. Mitt Romney Plans to Bulldoze La Jolla Home

LOL.... as if I didn’t already have enough reasons NOT to vote for Mitt.

Stick a fork in him. He’s done.

You need to see the SNL skit about the debate from last night. Sudeikis does a great Mitt Romney and summed him up perfectly.

Try this phrase out “I (Obama) tried to help you (the little guy) out but Romney’s Republicans in Congress stopped me”. Now insert other candidates, and none of their names fit quite that well (although the phrase will be used against them too). Now try “I’ve created good working class jobs”. Who fits that? Certainly not Romney, but Cain and Perry both have a case to some extent.

Not to mention this:

Romney’s Troubling Appointments (Mitt's environmental policy team now works for Obama) …………….“"EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson has taken most of the fire from Republicans as her agency rolls out a slew of controversial new climate and clean air rules. But McCarthy, the EPA assistant administrator of the Office of Air and Radiation, has taken on much of the heavy lifting of writing, structuring, and implementing the rules.

“Lisa’s the coach and Gina’s the quarterback” in the work of rolling out new clean air regulations, said Daniel Weiss, an energy and climate policy expert at the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank with close ties to the Obama administration. “She’s running the plays, improvising on the line.”

Another Romney environmental adviser in the effort to regulate “greenhouse gases” is now Obama’s Director of Science and Technology Policy, John Holdren. Dr. Holdren has some exotic views: …………..

And this:

Romney’s Advisers Met With Obama to Help Craft ‘Obamacare’ “Three of Mitt Romney’s advisers went to the White House at least a dozen times in 2009 to consult on the former Massachusetts governor’s health care plan that President Obama used as a model for his initiative -- now a federal law that all the Republican presidential candidates want to repeal.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters Tuesday he was "not in a position to comment on specific meetings." But in a remark that won't help Romney in his pursuit for the 2012 Republican nomination, Earnest repeated that Obama took cues from the Massachusetts legislation.

"You've certainly heard the president himself say that there were a number of very good ideas included in the health care plan that then-Gov. Romney put in place in Massachusetts that were incorporated into the Affordable Care Act and so it’s clear that these are some ideas that we were interested in incorporating and we did incorporate.

"But in terms of individual meetings and who participated and what the goal of them was, I don’t have that information,” he said.”……

What is this, class envy on the part of conservatives? Hate the rich, just like the Dems, even though a bunch of them are rich. I don’t get it. Unbecoming to slam the rich for being rich. I thought this was the antithesis of conservative philosophy. Or is an exception made if the rich person is Romney?

Yes, Perry is smart to push energy. He should not attack the “science” of global warming (such as it is) but simply point out the many common sense things like how Obama stopped drilling here but funded drilling abroad. Point out how much Obama wasted on his solar company and how many permanent jobs that would have created in the oil or gas industries. The global warming issue is a giant albatross that helped sink McCain.

He has a very BIG perception problem -- and it's not tied to his money (though this pic and his new digs are a huge gift to Obama), it's his policies (look up for some HealthCare and EPA ties).

Voters want to know: How he is different than the current occupant in the White House?

Yawn. Let's take a look at some of the recent Dem nominees.

Gore: 26K sq ft home in Tennessee. Wants everyone else to mind their consumption and carbon footprint.

Kerry: Multiple homes and $7M yatch. Avoided paying tax on yatch by keeping it in RI instead of MA.

Obama's $1.6M house in Chicago. A "modest" home in comparison to other politicians. However, purchase is highly questionable due to its links with convicted felon Rezko.

Romney's political liabilities are deep and wide. His property assets are the least of his concerns, especially when compared to top Dems' possessions.

“Voters want to know: How he is different than the current occupant in the White House?”

You can’t be serious. If you can’t see how he is different from the current occupant of the WH, then you are either intentionally myopic or just plain old want to dislike this man regardless of whether it is rational or not. Can’t help you there.

He can spend his money any way he wants and if he wasn't running for president no one would give a tinkers dam. He has a tin ear politically and with a bad economy and him wanting the job of president, its his JUDGEMENT people are talking about, not envy... He just keeps painting a “stupid” sign on his back...same goes for lot of what Perry says...

The totality of the Romney flip-flops will depress GOP turnout -- the (what will be widely "exposed") visual of the Wall Street millionaire, will energize the Obama turnout.

Romney comes from Wall Street.

Right now Wall Street is not to popular. Romney would give the left more ammo to use against him.

1) Obama can use Romney Care to prevent attacks on Obama Care. He cannot do that with any other candidate.

2) Obama can now say Romney is one of those Wall Street guys. Which would not be good right now

3) Obama can use many of Romney Liberal stance such as gun laws, gays in the military and abortion.

4) Obama Ghouls will call Romney out on his religion. It will be just like in 2008

5) Obama can play the race card with Romney.

Obama cannot do any of the above on Herman Cain.

Oh and the leftist in the media and press now say Obama fears Romney.

LMAO! Yeah right that is who they are hoping to run against. You really think Obama will tell you who is afraid to run against?

Please do not be that gullible to believe Obama is afraid of Romney. Obama knows his best chance to win is against Romney.

Then why do you give a tinkers dam if he is rich only because he is running for President? Are only poor people or middle class people allowed to run for President? Hmmmmm?

IMO, a race between Romney and Obama would depress turnout on both sides. Romney's RINO record and Obama’s disastrous first term would make it a bottom of the barrel scraper.

This article is about Romney and YOU bring up Perry to bash him and attack him. Yes Perry used to be a democrat and so did President Ronald Reagan. So I guess you will also include the best President in my lifetime......Ronald Reagan in your attack.

Romney is a rino to the max a democrat much more then a republican. But Perry is NOT, he conservative and is against abortions, and is for drilling for oil, has a get energy and other plans for America.

Bash Romney fine, he deserves it but NOT Rick Perry he has proven his leadership is good and strong and he loves America.
