Perry 's energy plan: Drill freely on federal lands

"I'm very confident that after all the distractions that the media will try to create, or however they get created, people care about having a job, having the dignity of a job, getting this country back working," the Republican presidential candidate said on Friday during an interview Downtown with the Tribune-Review.

Perry said he's accustomed to running campaigns from behind. His record of leadership and job creation while leading Texas since 2000 appeals to voters, he said. In late 2009, polls showed U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison with a double-digit lead over Perry in the gubernatorial primary race. He decisively defeated Hutchison and another candidate a few months later.

He does not plan to drop out of this race.

"This is just getting started," Perry said. "I haven't laid out a plan for job creation in this country until today, and I think I did that faster than any other candidate."

Perry Promises Increased Drilling and Decreased Regulation

Gov. Rick Perry of Texas released a long-promised jobs and energy proposal Friday that resembles a wish list for the oil and gas industry, promising new drilling across much of the country, including in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, as well as a curtailing of environmental regulations and “dismantling” the Environmental Protection Agency.

The plan he laid out in a speech at the United States Steel plant here contained proposals he said would free the nation from reliance on foreign energy and create 1.2 million jobs.

Although he has done great things for Texas, I just don’t feel right about him. Nothing concrete, just a feeling. I thought he might be another Texan that could do the country proud, but his last showing in the debates leaves me somewhat confused and bewildered. Not sure were he stands.

From all I have read on the Internet, the Lt. Governor did most of the work for all the things Gov. Perry claims to have accomplished. Makes me wonder.

Why don’t you watch the video and read the transcript of his plan?

As for Texas he did what created a business friendly climate, kept taxes and regulations low, which resulted in job creation opportunities for the private sector.

Are they paying you per post now, are is it just that you are hell bent on driving the polls to negative area instead of 5 %. No one cares, we are all heartless outside of Texas.

So, I should view it more than once, I will come to a different conclusion? As for reading the transcript, will it differ from the video? I will still go with my gut.

Good for him. To be honest, I didn't support him in Texas because I heard about the succession thing - turns out he didn't really mean that. But I'm proud of him now and I'm praying for him. I'm an independent btw and went to the rival school. But there's something about a national run, all those local rivalries go out the window.

Perry's plan is just what the economic doctor ordered.50% DO NOT PAY FEDERAL TAXES.Everyone buys gas and almost everything we do has energy connected in someway.SUPPLY SIDE ECONOMICS IS CORRECT. The problem in the current economy demand. Perry's idea gives the economy a supply side boost. This always cures the demand side. Lower energy prices puts money into pockets. Democrats tax the poor by having higher energy prices. They want supply from the Middle East and prices to be controlled by a cartel.Which party really hurts lower income?
