I believe this is the beginning fo Newt Gingrich's ascent into the top 2/battle for the nomination with Romney. While Cain is a smart, likable guy, his 999 plan.... the cornerstone of his campaign...... is going nowhere, and his inexperience is starting to hurt him. Watch Cain vs. Newt's answers regarding the Iranian assination plot here:

It will boil down to Newt vs. Mittens. I think Newt will get key endorsements from Rick Perry and Sarah Palin as well.

Don’t forget the photo of Newt sitting with Pelosi over global warming. Newt has a ton of baggage that will follow him.

Newt is a brilliant guy, and is without a doubt the smartest guy in the room, just about anywhere he is. Having said that, I’m just not sure whether or not he’s presidential type material. I think it was his destiny to be Speaker of the House for half a century, but it just wasn’t to be.

Don’t get me wrong though, I’d happily do the whole ‘broken glass’ thing for Newt against 0bama!

If you consider either Newt or Myth Romney to be conservative, I would hate to see your idea of a liberal.

I think Romneycare is worse. I’m not sure if there is anything conservative about Romney. I don’t trust the guy.

I’m not happy with Newt either in that regard but at least we know he has had some experience in cutting budgets, at least SOMEONE finally called out Frank and Dodd in a debate. That was about 3 years too late.

I think Newt will stay in 3rd place. He has as much baggage as Myth. Let's not forget that Newt was an actual Rockefeller Repub. He actually worked on his campaigns. His Conservatism was for convenience and can be seen in recent years as questionable.

Easy. Romneycare -- because, only a few weeks ago, Romney stated he a.) believed the world was getting warmer and b.) that man was probably responsible.

At least Newt has said he "made a mistake..."

They ALL have baggage. There is no “perfect” church and no “perfect” candidate.

Why not choose the most brilliant, knowledgeable, experienced, Conservative, Christian, and yes, flawed, candidate that we have to pick from? Newt.

Between Newt and Mitt, I vote for Newt. We are just going to have to wait and see how this all plays out.

Everyone forgets that 5 minutes ago when the Obummer freight train rolled into DC after the ‘08 election and Repubics were all scared, there were a few who wanted to cozy up to the winning side to curry favor. One such dope was Newt. He actually said “The era of Reagan is over”. Who can trust this dude?

Not to worry. Romney will be the nominee. The Republican elites will see to it. Just as they have done in every election since 1980. Then all the good little Republicans will fall in line and tell us how Romney is the second coming of Reagan. Then they will whine and cry for the next four years after Nobama kicks his ass royally.

So Newt was what, some kind of community college professor who taught history or political science. Alvin Toffler’s “End of History”... jump on the bandwagon. OK the Contract With America was brilliant, but then he gets lost in the fame and the ego trip and the nookie. Enough of this “Newt Is Brilliant” crap already. A fking history teacher who got scammed by Gorebull Warming. Yeah... BRILLIANT.

He does give a good “debate” though. Lately.

Shocking... Mitt in the low 20’s... Stunner.. Who would guess the front runner, the man who looks the most presidential, would be in the low 20’s...
