Herman Cain’s got the liberals squirmin’
Boston Herald ^ | 101211 | Margery Eagan

All over Cambridge, Brookline and Jamaica Plain, the self-satisfied set is beyond appalled.

Herman Cain, a black guy, is the new darling of the Tea Party — the very party that liberals have labeled racist since it was born.

How to explain this disturbing turn of events? How will liberals deride Tea Partiers now? And since so many felt so good about themselves after voting for Barack Obama (who is biracial), how good might white independents feel after voting for Cain (who’s 100 percent black?)

Cain’s just a black poster boy, a plant to deflect racist charges aimed at the GOP. That’s the dismissive line

I especially love that Cain seems to have to problem telling it just as it is.If you just sit around waiting for someone to give you a jo then complain about someone else who went out and made themselves rich then it IS your fault you are poor.I hope we get to see Cain take it to Obama and tell him like it is.

Do not like this 999. In a few years I will be looking to buy a new car. Never happen. If this 999 goes into effect I will have to up front pay a 9 percent State tax, a 9 percent Federal sales tax, and somehow find enough for a down payment. My trade in might help.

Just think of the poor saps buying a home. Damn tax would probably be more than the down payment and would be payable immediately as part of the escrow bill. Pure crap. Wonder if a previous home would be considered used and no Federal tax? Got so many questions.

Corporate Taxes are passed onto consumers, as much 35% of the price of new car is based on Corporate income taxes. You will pay a 9% sales tax on a car that will have it’s price reduced as much as 26%. Therefore, you will realize an overall savings.

But you’ll have more to spend because your income tax will be significantly lower. And because the car dealer, manufacturer, shipper, etc. have lower taxes, the car will be less expensive. And, unlike your income tax, you can choose, via your purchasing activity, how much sales tax you are willing to spend. 9% of nothing is nothing.

It literally puts more control into the hands of the consumer.

Or the corporations will like to keep more of their own profits too. I guess I can "hope" they will pass that on but since they pass on.

That said, Herman Cain is fun to watch him hammer these liberal punks who put people in a box. Cain needs to keep telling it like it is to the blacks AND the whites who want to keep everyone down. I am sure the blacks who have been preferred by the establishment for their roles hate Herman Cain with a passion, but you will see one or two black entertainers or athletes step out and confirm his words.

The fair tax puts more control in the hands of the individual,
and out of the hands of politicians and gov’t officials.

This is why they oppose tax reform so much.

Yup. Taxes are used to control people all the time. Heck, it’s why we have the mortgage interest deduction. And there are the “efficient water heater credit”, etc.

I hate that stuff.

Approx 22% of the retail price of items in the USA is due to federal corporate income taxes that would go away under Cain's plan. How would this affect your car purchase?

Current price = $30,000
Retail price under 999: $25,560 ($23,400 + $2,160 corp income taxes)
Sales tax under 999: $2,300
Total price under 000: $27,860 (you save $2,140 under 999)

You also have to factor in how much you would save on the state sale taxes on the car, since you would be paying them on a $25,560 purchase price instead of a $30,000 purchase price.

If you state sale tax was 6%, you would save $264 ($1,800 vs $1534).

The 999 plan would save you about $2,404 on the purchase of your car.

People need to come to grips with just how much we pay in hidden taxes that are built into the price of products we purchase. If they did, they'd realize that the 9-9-9 plan ends up saving consumers money on almost every purcahse.

Two things to think about concerning purchases. First, the tax does not apply to used items. So if you bought a preowned home, I believe no tax.
Second, if all companies only have to pay 9% corporate tax the price of products will come down.
Also you're going to have more money in your pocket because instead of paying 20 or 25% income tax.

Now I want to see how Herman can somehow lock in the 999 we're good.

This may be a good thing as it makes the tax far more obvious. The problem now (with with payroll deductions) is people don't really know how much they are paying in taxes. I remember about 15 years ago the amount of gas taxes were posted on the pump. That lasted about 6 weeks until the legislature put a stop to it.

Personally, I think the amount of taxation should be the expenditure by government divided by the population. Simply send everybody a bill for the federal, state and town taxes on the day before elections are held.

I would also favor a law that would bar anyone from voting that takes government money in any form. That would prevent these people from voting themselves a raise and prevent the purchase and sale of votes... Which is why it would never happen

You may hate it, but I consider it a moral imperative to feed the beast as little as possible,

and not taking advantage of all tax breaks possible is giving them more money and power to reduce your freedom.

It may cost me $500 to save $100 in taxes, but I’ve done things like that.

We should consult prior to posting because we're on the exact same page. If my wife didn't make me get something from the garage I would have beaten you......

I'm not sure why it's so hard for people to see the advantages of this 999 proposal.

I heard but have not confirmed that the sales tax portion of the program only applies to new items? If so buying a used car or preowned home would be very interesting.

It's called competiton, and it works every time.

The result: milk prices will go down.

It's only when the government interferes in the free market system that prices don't drop. Let to its own, free market competiton will force prices down to the lowest point.

So what happens to the greedy business man that tries to keep the increase in profits instead of passing it onto the customer? They lose so many customers that they go out of business.
