The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, the group that told women in their 40s that they don't need mammograms, will soon recommend that men not get screened for prostate cancer, according to a source privy to the task force deliberations.
The task force is set to recommend a "D" rating for prostate specific antigen, or PSA, testing. Such a rating means "there is moderate or high certainty that the service has no net benefit or that the harms outweigh the benefits," according to the group's website. The task force is set to propose this recommendation Tuesday, and then allow for a comment period before issuing a final recommendation.
According to a draft copy of a report scheduled to be released Monday, a review of studies shows screening with the PSA blood test results in "small or no reduction" in prostate cancer deaths.
The report adds that PSA testing is "associated with harms related to subsequent evaluation and treatments."

My doctor said that the PSA had so many false positives that it was meaningless, his recommendation was the annual digital examination.
They went after mammograms, now this. Why do I have the feeling this is prepping us for government health care?
Obamacare in action.
Amen. The PSA gave my Dad another 22 years. These people are truly evil.
Maybe we want them. LOL
It's coming for all of us.
This way Obama care saves money.
If your elderly and ill your on your own.
Hmmmm...let’s see. My father had prostate cancer that was discovered early by PSA screening, treated, and he is still here. His father had prostate cancer that wasn’t discovered early and it killed him.
I’m going to say with that family history I’ll continue my PSA screenings.
This is how it starts.
How about just letting my Dr. and me decide?
“Without the PSA I’d be a dead man by now.”
That’s the plan. The marxists know that government run healthcare cannot afford the boomers...hence ‘death panels’.
“My doctor said that the PSA had so many false positives that it was meaningless, his recommendation was the annual digital examination.”
Otherwise known as the “finger wave”.
Which isn’t to be confused with the colonoscopy. Otherwise known as “scoping for dollars”.
My first PSA test saved my life. July 2010, at age 46, I had my first PSA test. I had no clue that an agressive and large tumor was growing inside of me. If not for this cheap and routine test, I would have been in serious trouble. Even if O’bomney Care won’t pay, do yourself a favor and pay for an yearly test out of your own pocket. If you wait until you suspect that there is a problem, it may be too late.
Glad you’re still with us. However, this is about the whole population, not one particular man. We could also give everyone a CT scan and MRI and exploratory surgery every day just in case in might catch something. But we don’t do that.
“A digital exam didn’t disclose mine - based on the PSA I was referred to a urologist who performed a biopsy that came back positive.”
My cancer was on the front side of my prostate. It could not be felt and was only detected by a high PSA reading. Best bet is to get the PSA test and the finger test.

It appears there will be a huge surplus of doctors and medical centers and hospitals now that Obama is banning anyone from being screened or treated.
Only a Communist could come up with such a crazy idea.
