The new acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced a major shake-up of his agency Wednesday and urged Washington insiders to calm down about the latest revelations surrounding a controversial ATF gun operation.
B. Todd Jones said calm is needed as he begins rebuilding the beleaguered agency, including shuffling top personnel. He made his comments as his boss, Attorney General Eric J. Holder Jr., came under fire this week from Republican lawmakers, with one calling for a special counsel to investigate Holders role in the Fast and Furious gun-trafficking operation.

My take, FWIW, is that a lot of people at TATFE, FBI, and DoJ are worried, and should be. As it becomes more obvious that Obama won't win next year, I expect one or more will come forward, to cut a deal for themselves... Holder's a goner...the real question is what and when did Obama know?
Like the old joke says, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms sounds more like the name of a convenience store than a function of the federal government.
Always, always the way of the left... when they control the reigns of power, they’re prosecuting every possible breach of the law committed by the other side, but when the wheel turns, “eh, it’s no big deal, let’s everybody just cool down a bit, our hearts were in the right place”...
Oh, Holder’s people. What a surprise.
“Don’t be uncool”
Sorry, it ain't the 70's anymore. No one cares. Our rulers are above the law.
I never thought I'd be nostalgic over Watergate.
Gee, I wonder if they would have headlined it when Nixon asked for everyone to 'calm down' about Watergate?
Actually, they would have, come to think of it. The headline would be:
NIXON IN DENIAL ABOUT WORST SCANDAL IN HISTORY
Issues Pathetic Plea: "Calm down."
“Calm down. It’s just corruption and murder. That’s standard procedure for the Obama Regime.”
He doesn’t look like a gun owner. Just saying.
Just guessing, but could this be some of that “under the radar” low key stuff that our Irish prez was talking about? Seem to remember something about o’bama telling the brady bunch to be patient or something along that line.
Shake up my ass. People need to go to jail!!!
The Washington Post carries the water for the DNC and liberals -— AGAIN.
In case you didn’t know, the Washington Post is an accomplice in this case!
Back in 2010, the WaPo ran stories about a particular gun shop being the source of the supposed “iron river” or firearms flowing into Mexico.
Unfortunately, the WaPo story was based 100% on a BATFE source. The reporters never checked the story out.
It turned out that the dealer was cooperating with the BATFE and was ordered to sell firearms to straw buyers under Fast & Furious. The dealer’s attorney provided proof to the WaPo.
The retraction was buried (as usual).
This is how the Obama Administration was planning to set us all up. Let the guns walk by ordering the dealers to sell them, then use the media to point the finger at US dealers as the source of illegal firearms in Mexico.
This is why the White House screamed at Sharyl Attkisson....she was straying off the liberal plantation that the NYT, ABC, NBC, CNN and WaPo were still on.
For the White House to believe the media would cover for murder is an incredible event! It shows how close to the precipice we stand as a nation.
The differance between the two is there was no one killed with the guns under Bush and there have been plenty of killings under Obama.
Of course, the reporter writing the story forgot to include that detail.
“Calm down about Watergate,” said Nixon.
New ATF Director “Calm Down”. Yeah, Good Luck with that.....
There are murders involved here. Are you trying to be complicit, idiot?
Hell, I bet you the reporters DID check the story out, and found out it was a scam to subvert the Second Amendment in popular opinion. Then they smiled widely, and knowingly, and ran the stories the BATF asked for -- twice as hard.
Here is what Sharyl Attkisson claims was said to her by Eric Schultz:
Attkisson said he had “literally screamed at me and cussed at me” about the story, and that the White House also told her that she was the only reporter not being “reasonable” about the issue.
A bulldog reporter from CBS.
There was a time when CBS was the gold standard in broadcast news...
Yeah this will make it all go away; unbelievable!
Two Americas, two different sets of rules.
“Red” America, the one that, in a curious inversion of the language, has come to mean the more traditional and conservative faction, does not always have a say in the writing of the rules, and mistakenly has thought in the past that the law applied equally. Thus, a Republican that gets caught in a scandal has no option but to resign any appointed or elective post, and face whatever consequences that are written in the existing law.
“Blue” America seems unable to recognize any limitations on their “rights”, many of which were never recognized anywhere in the Constitution, and they glory in applying the letter, not the spirit, of the law when it suits them. Of course, when neither the letter or the spirit of the law allows them a given latitude of action, they simply ignore it and do as they want, seemingly unaware of any consequences.
But the Universe neither forgets nor forgives transgressions that attempt to diminish the God-given rights enumerated in the Constitution, to life, liberty and “pursuit of happiness”, a code for property ownership.
The ultimate plan to protect the Administration from prosecution.
Obviously a liberal and follower of Obama.. so now the Administration and the MSM can start screaming "Racism! Racism!"

B. Todd Jones to Chair Attorney Generals Advisory Committee
Attorney General Eric Holder has appointed U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota B. Todd Jones to chair the Attorney Generals Advisory Committee (AGAC) of U.S. Attorneys. Jones served as U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota from 1998-2001 and has previously served as a member, vice chair and chair of the AGAC (1999-2001).
“Calm down”? A trail of bodies and this is his response? Are you kidding me?!
“New ATF Director Calm Down. Yeah, Good Luck with that.....
There are murders involved here. Are you trying to be complicit, idiot?”
More than murder and accomplice to murder, and more than illegal arms trafficking, violations of international law, and all the crimes involved so far in the cover-up: This is treason - an orchestrated attempt by Obama, his corrupt administration, and his global handlers to use willing Federali and media accomplices to over-ride the 2nd Amendment, preparatory to a takeover of the nation.
These Dems have always had a media that protects them. Now that at least one network is investigating the administration’s ties to murders of US border agents and US citizens, the Dems don’t know what to do.
Doom on the lot of them.
1-We ARE calm, but we want answers, not lies.
2-It wasn’t a “sting” because you clowns weren’t tracking the weapons.
No worries. Obama has pardons for everyone involved.
Now there will be MSM coverage. They have a way to "report" that Bush did this and Obama has worked without rest for almost three years to undo this horrible thing.
and Obama/Holder get a two-fer with this Jones guy. They can all scream "Racism! Racism! Racism! Racism! Racism! Racism!"
When Obama appointed him I posted his bio.He is at the very least a terrorist sympathizer.
You’re correct it looks like this is they’re new spin and cover up and EVERYBODY is helping.Wikipedia added this entry I belive in OCT of 2011 RECENTLY this month!UNBELIEVABLE they are trying to blame Bush!A brief search just showed all the lefty bloggers are posting this all over the net.
I do believe that nebulous figure in the background in none other than the infamous Holder.
It would appear that when Omyass gets into trouble he doesn’t just “lawyer up” he also “layers up”. Probably something that the Rev Wright taught him about trusting members of the community.
Looks like the time to bring in a fast talking Algonquin J. Calhoun, Holder isn’t holding up very well.
I hope I’m wrong and B. Todd Jones is more Corps than Obamite.
Who was that Attorney General who would not participate in Nixon’s cover up attempt and resigned.....it happens.
But never with DemoRats.
Stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying!
Eric Holder needs to put on his marching shoes and go directly to jail, do not pass Go.
he worked as an intern in the office of Minnesota Senator Hubert Humphrey
In 1998, Senator Paul Wellstone (D-Minnesota) recommended Jones as the next U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota, and President Bill Clinton nominated him. He served from 1998 to 2001, resigning upon the election of Republican George W. Bush.
Jones returned briefly to Greene Espel, but soon left that firm and became a partner at the much larger firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi from 2001 to 2009, where his practice focused on complex business litigation and corporate criminal defense.
In 2009, Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota) recommended Jones for his old job as U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota. The previous Attorney, Rachel Paulose, had resigned in 2007 following allegations of mishandling of classified reports and a dictatorial management style. President Obama nominated Jones, and he has served in that role from 2009 to the present. Ironically, six years earlier, in 2003, Jones and Klobuchar clashed in a high profile criminal trial in Minneapolis, with Klobuchar’s office prosecuting former Minnesota Twins baseball Hall-of-Famer Kirby Puckett for rape and Jones defending him. The trial ended in an acquittal on all charges.
Shortly after beginning his second stint as Minnesotas U.S. Attorney, Jones was asked by Attorney General Eric Holder to chair the Attorney Generals Advisory Committee (AGAC) of U.S. Attorneys, which provides advice and counsel to the Attorney General on policy, management and operational issues affecting U.S. Attorneys Offices throughout the country, and also represents U.S. Attorneys in the decision-making process at the Department.
As U.S. Attorney, moreover, Jones has advocated a community-based approach in dealing with Arab-American communities, many of which feel stereotyped in the current Islamophobic environment.
Jones has been married since 1980 to Margaret Samanant, whom he met in college, and the couple has three sons and two daughters. According to the website OpenSecrets, Jones has contributed $12,947 to Democratic candidates and causes since 2002.
