However it used to be a given that the staff was professionals. That they knew what they were doing, they gave their boss briefings and updates. Don't say this here, remember to say that there, they even were known to draw them pictures if necessary.
When the politician flubbed there was a staffer in the back doing a face palm.
Now though one of two things has happened, either the staff is not professional or the Obama administration is ignoring them. Looking at some of the stuff that has come out I would say both.

The whole point of President Obummer’s three-day swing through West Africa was to make sure the region knows it’s important in 2012 that Obummer knows where he is going when he gets deported back to his native land.
