Dogs and cats can fend for themselves better than most humans. What does it say of a nation that has more shelters for homeless animals than for homeless people? More shelters for abused animals than for for battered women? Where the word “rescue” is more often applied to services for pets than services for people?
When disaster strikes and it’s time to grab the “go bag,” remember your neighbor who doesn’t know how to kill and eat.
His cousin, the crazy Texas terrier, smacks down any raccoon or other varmit that dares to venture into her territory. OTOH, the Princess of Carpet Pee would be first in line for the bbq. The big lazy one I’d have to keep around if for nothing but a nice warm fuzzy.
Yes, they have canned food in the bag already. Yes, they have and would head for the hills with us.
