Took a trip to Palm Springs, Calif this past week. On the way there, along the I-10, there were windmill farms as far as the eye can see. My wife and her sister both said the same thing almost simultaneosly that it was a horrendous sight. On a tour, we found out that each one cost 4 million dollars. Is there anyone who lives near there that knows how many there are? I can see why the Kennedy’s want them in your backyard and not their own.
How many of them were in operation? They have a tendency to need repair, and when they are a couple of hundred feet up on a tower, they are kind of hard to repair.
The day we left there was quite a bit of wind in the area so most were turning. They are replacing the ones that are positioned on a “oil rig” type pole to the straight pole. I was told that the birds would nest in the old ones and animal activists determined that many birds were being killed by the blades.
