With shouts demanding an end to fossil fuels, hundreds of people marched, biked and scooted down Market Street on Saturday as part of a global Moving Planet day.
Some were dressed as polar bears and fish, while others carried signs calling for better public transit, more solar and wind energy, and cleaner air. Many participants took the opportunity to blast plans for a pipeline that would carry crude oil from the tar sands of western Canada into the United States. But everyone was there to express concern at the growing carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.
San Leandro teacher Maureen Forney was dressed as a red-legged frog, a species once ubiquitous in the Bay Area but now threatened. And San Francisco resident Jennifer Harris donned a polar bear hat to march with her 2-year-old daughter, Harper.
Having a young child makes the issue that much more urgent, she said.
"Having her made me realize even more how we need to take action now - it makes this more personal," Harris said. "And I want her to understand that in a democracy, part of our responsibility is to show up and say what we want from our government."

(Yes, I know there are many good ones out there. My question to you is how do you let losers such as Maureen out of an asylum? She obviously doesn’t know anything about science - and I strongly suspect that she actually tries to teach science.)
Why, oh why, does anyone with children allow them to attend a public school?
Why, oh why, does anyone at all allow perhaps the third most corrupt union (behind the UAW and the Teamsters) to control education?
Why, oh why, does anyone at all allow the bottom of the SAT barrel dwellers to get a cardboard degree in “Education” and then commence to preach their inane dribble to children?
How about they REALLY show their committment?
Shut down San Fran for a month...no cars, no trams, no trucks allowed in the greater SF area!
Let them do it for a month....No cars bringing their dope in, no trucks bringing in their Arugula and Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.

If we did away with fossil fuels now, they would starve to death as farmers tractors died, and the trucks that deliver their food stopped, Not to mention half the country would be out of work. These people have Feces for brains.
