Good comment. Poland has paid a very high price for its independence. I hope that Fortuna, the “wheel of fortune,” is turning in Poland’s favor in the 21st century.
The Poles recognize that their country is in the best position it has enjoyed in three centuries. Yet, as you suggest, for a middle rank nation in a potentially rough neighborhood, good circumstances can quickly turn and deliver more of the bitter glory that is such a large and tragic element of Poland’s history.
