Unless you work for a state or local government, or the judiciary, or the legislature, or the civil service.

A Sheriff is an elected position so you can not get fired by anyone but the voters

I believe that Sheriff Joe works for NO government, but reports directly to the electorate of Maricopa County, AZ, USA.
