Canadian Commentator: The Press Gave America 'An Untried, Unknown,' 'Incompetent Figure As President' By Noel Sheppard Created 09/18/2011 - 9:09pm

Maybe what America's press really need is a Canadian television commentator to explain how atrocious their coverage of Barack Obama has been since the moment he tossed his named into the presidential ring in February 2007.

Although they may not be familiar with CBC's Rex Murphy, they should certainly heed the marvelous piece he wrote for the National Post Saturday entitled "The Media’s Love Affair With a Disastrous President":

As the bad economic news continues to emanate from the United States — with a double-dip recession now all but certain — a reckoning is overdue. American journalism will have to look back at the period starting with Barrack [sic] Obama’s rise, his assumption of the presidency and his conduct in it to the present, and ask itself how it came to cast aside so many of its vital functions. In the main, the establishment American media abandoned its critical faculties during the Obama campaign — and it hasn’t reclaimed them since.

Murphy then walked through some of the press's most egregious examples of malpractice:

Gliding past Obama's pretentions Ignoring his arrogance Not reporting his gaffes Side-stepping his connection to Rev. Jeremiah Wright Trashing Hillary Clinton Burning Republicans Ransacking Sarah Palin and her family

"Palin, in particular, stands out as Obama’s opposite in the media’s eyes," wrote Murphy. "As much as they genuflected to the one, they felt the need to turn rotweiler toward the other."

After offering further examples of so-called journalists' unforgivable obsession with attacking the former governor of Alaska, Murphy gave his strongest criticism.

"As a result, the press gave the great American republic an untried, unknown and, it is becoming more and more frighteningly clear, incompetent figure as President."

Murphy crescendoed to his spot on conclusion: "To the degree the press neglected its function as watchdog and turned cupbearer to a styrofoam demigod, it is a partner in the flaws and failures of what is turning out to be one of the most miserable performances in the modern history of the American presidency."

Almost on cue, "American Conservative's" Jim Pinkerton observed a few hours later on Saturday's "Fox News Watch" that some of Obama's enablers are starting to get it.

"There’s a strange thing happening in the media which is, I think, liberalism has sort of concluded that Obama is kind of a turkey, and they're sort of trying to distance themselves from him."

They might try, but too many observers know the truth: the press aided and abetted this national disgrace, and they're going to have a lot to answer for in the coming years regardless of how much they try to distance themselves from the current White House resident.

Hopefully more members of the foreign press will assist those of us in the States that have been sending out warning signals since February 2007.

Maybe with their help, the media malpractice will be totally acknowledged by the guilty parties, and America will never have to witness such a disgraceful episode again.

A conservative can dream, can't he?

The media wanted Obama to become President because they saw him as their progressive dream come true. Obama is the most left wing, Marxist, commie loving, progressive we have ever seen and that is exactly what the media wanted. Every single thing Obama has done to take this country down the media applauds him for that, because they believe in what he believes him and they will defend him til their last breath

The foreign press is our only hope because the national press sure won't do it.

Good work, but he totally overlooked the media’s complete swallowing of obama’s “autobiography” and never looked into ANY details of his life. They would say, “No need to. It’s all in the book! And if it isn’t, then it must not be worth examining.”

As much as I hope this is the case I have to ask: How - exactly - will the press be held to account?

Last time I looked, there is no law that states the press must report fairly or truthfully and without bias toward one party or against another. It seems to me that it was always just assumed the press would act in that manner.

Canada’s coming up with some first class commentators: Mark Steyn, Noel Sheppard, and others. Must be that nice clear cool air they’re breathing...

The media’s wet dream has turned iito their sweaty nightmare.
Tingles up their legs have turned into cobras biting them in their collectige asses.
Their willing suspension of disbelief has become their headlight of truth shining in their doe eyes.
They didn’t just ‘neglect’ their duties as guardians of truth, they literally fled their posts as AWOL coward deserters.
Their most shameful act of arrogance is that they have no shame, just like a prostitute hooked on crack.......

"...never looked into ANY details of his life"

Worse, a lot of them know the truth of Bami's past and hide it because he is their Chosen One.

The only thing that can be done is boycott their publications and the products advertised on the major media outlets.

Here's an interesting question!
What if a 1M conservative cable subscribers asked to have CCN blocked from their basic package. What about 100K?
What's the threshold where CNN’s wallet would be hit hard?

Note CNN is increasing an international news outlet as opposed to a national news outlet so it might not matter if their US audience shrunk to nothing.

The ‘law’ that will hold them ‘accountable’ is the ages old Law of Supply and Demand, administered in the Court of Public Opinion.
People will not buy a product that is known to be defective.......

Most people dragged through the mud by the media don’t sue because the bar is set high - for good reason. But those genuinely wronged need to sue and sue big. An enterprising law firm could make a good living off providing such a service after the first couple court victories.

It’s not like the evidence is hard to come by. Just the will to do it.

I’m originally from canadastan and grew up on Rex Murphisms. He’s a libertarian. Unfortunately, he’s affiliated with the CBC...one of the most anti-American broadcast companies in the world. You should watch their news shows. They make Al jazeera look like Fox news.

NEVER going to happen. The presstitutes in this country will NEVER, EVER admit to doing anything wrong. They are liberals and socialists to the core, and to be a liberal means never having to accept responsibility for your actions

They will, hopefully, continue their long, slow descent into irrelevance and unemployment. It cannot come soon enough.

One might say, "biting them in their entire selves."

I’m not worried about what anyone in the writes, it’s what they didn’t write that is the problem.
They completely abrogated their proper and just responsibilities of vetting an unknown candidate for the most powerful post in the world, and in so doing, aided and abetted the foistering upon the American people a man so incompetent that he cannot even face them without the aid of an electronic device to tell him what to say.....
