TUCSON, AZ (KPHO/AP) - Davis-Monthan Air Force Base has stepped up security and limited traffic in and out of the base in the midst of reported gunfire.

A Davis-Monthan Air Force Base spokesperson could not confirm reports of gunfire or say if anyone has been shot.

An elementary school on the base is on lockdown, but a spokeswoman would release few details other than no one was being allowed in or out of the base

Fox affiliate says only the school is locked down, and that there is still a single point of entry into DM.

Fire trucks entered the base; probably rescue units on stand-by to assist shooting victims. Out here, we always roll fire trucks for almost any kind of incident.

A base spokesperson would only say it has reduced movements to single-point entry due to a potential security situation.

Went out to DM many times to work on their ABCCC C-130’s. Don’t know if they are there or not anymore.

I really enjoyed Tucson.

Either that or a Glock. The media don't know anything else.

Far end, East side (a block away from the fence at the boneyard...).

Carson Junior High and then Santa Rita.

Moved there in ‘71 when DM was still a SAC base. It was cool watching the U2s take off and land. Then it became a TAC base with the A10s... not as cool looking unless they’re firing their 30 mm canons (which they didn’t do on training flights... at least not in the city).

Tucson has become soooo big that I don’t really enjoy visiting anymore. In ‘71, we were on the farthest East side with nothing but desert for miles around. Now, all that area is just more housing developments.

Ah, yes... remember beating Fickett in basketball in 8th grade ;-).

Also the great Santa Rita/Palo Verde football rivalry... at least back in the late 70s.
