GOP Debate: Rick Perry Booed Over Texas Immigration Law
ABC News ^ | Sep 12, 2011 | Amy Bingham

Posted on 09/13/2011 3:55:34 AM PDT by ding_dong_daddy_from_dumas

“The American way is not to give taxpayer-subsidized benefits to people who have broken our laws and are here in the United States illegally,” Bachmann said at the CNN/Tea Party Express debate.

Perry defended the law, saying it was a states’ rights issue.

“We were clearly sending a message to young people that, regardless of what the sound of their last name is, that we believe in you,” Perry said.

After Roland Martin's comments [LINKED below], no one on the CNN Panel pointed out how Gov. Rick Perry was attacked by the other panelists for in-state tuition allowed for high school graduates (in Texas schools for 3 years) working for citizenship (allowed to attend U.S. schools by the Feds) so they will not be a burden on the American taxpayer -- "regardless of your last name."

Gov. Perry may well have put AZ, NM, NV, CO in the GOP column with Rick Perry on the 2012 GOP ticket and made 55 CA Electoral Votes viable pick-ups.

How CNN's analysts scored the debate

[snip] .....>>> Roland Martin, CNN contributor: "If you're a Latino voter, the last thing you wanted to hear was some of the stuff you heard tonight. Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico will be critical states when it comes to November 2012. The GOP did themselves no favors tonight with Latino voters.

"Education did not come up in this debate at all. The only moment it came up was about abolishing the Department of Education. If you're a parent trying to get your kid educated, not a single candidate offered anything to speak to the crisis we have in this country when it comes to education. Major failure in that."<<<.....

RICK PERRY SUPPORTS AND SIGNED LAW GIVING TUITION TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.

It's over for him. He's done.

If you support Perry or Romney, you are supporting everything that's wrong with both the GOP elite AND the Democrats.

Just the facts, Freepers. His immigration stance IS THE SAME AS OBAMA'S...

Wheeeere are the Perrybots on this one?

Read Post #24.

I also found it interesting, that after about the 20th time of repeating “innocent 11-12 year-old little girls” (in the Tampa CNN-Tea Party debate, CNN post-debate, Fox News post-debate), when asked by Greta VanSusteren if she believed Gov. Perry used an Executive Order for the cervical cancer vaccine to get $6000.00 or because he believed it was a good idea and would help fight the spread of this cancer, Michele Bachmann actually stopped talking for a couple of nanoseconds, paused and said that she couldn’t look into his heart and know that answer.

The answer is obvious to any honest person, that Gov. Perry did it to help fight cancer and hold down future medical costs (not make money, reward a company (Merck contributes $Millions to political groups yearly) - encourage girls to become sexually active or even suggest that they do). The best time to administer the HPV vaccine is when girls are young (they can contract this cancer from their husbands – get oral cancer – thank you Bill Clinton for your part in making America's youth think oral sex isn't sex).

About deaths from vaccines – over 400 people die yearly in the U.S. alone from penicillin allergies. All medicine carries risks -- have you watched an Rx commercial disclaimer lately?

And it was opt out. The governor’s EO allowed easier payment due to insurance restrictions. And it was not opposed by Dr. David Stevens, CEO of the Christian Medical Association.

Why CMA supported Perry's HPV vaccination order

Lying like those women of virtue Palin and Bachman on the Greta show?

Since 2006 Texas has spent over 250 million of our own dough to secure the U.S./Mexico border. Remember, that is the U.S. border and it's not Texas's responsibility but we take it on.

We get .94 for every dollar we send in to the Feds (Alsaka gets 1.80 I suppose to defend the Canadian/Alaska border).

Texas can't just round up illegals and ship them back to Mexico, neither can Arizona or New Mexico or California. We can jail them at our costs or we can try to cope the best we can.

Perry had it right. Since we cant deport we have a choice, jail or continue to let illegals opperate under the radar or.

Palin and Bachman are a joke when it comes to the reality of border security. Palin said in 2008 in an interview with Univision she wouldn't deport the illegals because it would be inhumane and she understood why they want to be here, now on O'Reilly she says she is gonna build a 2600 mile fence, militarize the border and deport them all. Liar and panderer is she. The only thing Palin had going for her was her appearance of virtue, certainly not her half term governor experience. After her false accusation of Perry, she doesn't even have that, and to think, after the guardisil thing, Palin still sang Perry's praises and supported him over KBH.

The “last name” line is especially offensive because it implies that those who want immigration laws enforced are racist. I’d vote Perry off the Republican primary planet for that alone.

Cain was great, Palin and Bachman are unserious amateurs. It was very clear.

"Presidents can't make mistakes" Bachman and Palin accusing Perry of selling out for 5,000 was low budget.

Funny how Palin still endorsed Perry after the guardisil thing.

How can we forget GWB and Michael Chertoff calling us xenophobes?

I get so tired of this stuff.

We have been through this before. If pandering to these people and reawarding them for breaking our laws is so popular, the dems would have passed a CIR bill in the 1st 2 years while we could not have stopped it.

That is why Obama has been using EO”s to reward them.

Nobodies perfect and Perry certainly proved it last night.
:0

I’m voting for BC or P. I am ready to go down in flames but will not vote for a RINO or RINO lite, this time or ever again, just to get someone with an “R” in front of their name in office.
What have you got if you compromise on larger principles???

As for illegals enforce the law!

I do not agree with you. Palin and Bachmann are terrific and very smart. Either would make an excellent President. So would Herman Cain. I can't decide which I like best.

The so-called "Liberals" (newspeak, of course) are horrified at the thought of any one of these in the White House--because they are horrified at truth and they are horrified at anything that threatens their nefarious agenda. All three do.

Perry had it wrong when he agreed to reward illegal aliens. Maybe he can’t deport, but he sure as hell doesn’t have to reward them.

If a kid from another state goes to three years of high school in Texas, then it is apples to apples. This are clearly assimilated people going to school, and pursuing a career and citizenship.

I don’t agree with the policy entirely, but the attacks are false comparing to the the leftists Dream acts and amnesty.

"George Bush was a bit more conservative in my opinion."

Maybe. But, if so, what difference did it make?

Bush REFUSED to enforce U.S. immigration laws, INCREASED the national debt, INCREASED entitlements, INCREASED the size, reach, and appetite of the Federal Government.

I have great respect for George W. Bush as a man, a man of honor, and a patriotic American, but his Presidency was a disaster for the United States.

Perry looks to me like just another politician backed by cronyism and a well financed political machine.

That could be useful in kicking the Democrats out of office and saving the U.S.A. from destruction by them, but who's to save the U.S.A. from destruction by the likes of George W. Bush?

We need Bachmann, Cain, or Palin in the White House!

Not another George W. Bush!

“Well, on that note, we have no candidate.”

My feelings exactly.

The candidates will change some of their non-conservative positions out of naked political cynicism but who will believe a word of it?

I skipped over the “Presidential” line in ‘08 and worked my way down the ballot. Looks like I’ll do it again.
