Debate #3 (Aug. 11, 2011 in IA) (Live thread)
Against the NFL? Who scheduled this?
Yup, it's just dumb scheduling. This debate will not have a great audience because it conflicts with Monday Night Football.
Look for activist "gotcha" questions and politically correct "audience members" asking questions like the Latina asking about immigration, the elderly woman asking about Social Security, etc.
Wow. Yeh, bad scheduling - making it even worse, I have to work open to close today, so I’ll be missing the debate again. On a side note, this thread sure started early.
So, who are the mods for this one? Will it be a real debate or just another circus act with dancing bears and a clown car?
“ questions coming from the moderator, CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer, as well as from tea party activists, supporters in the audience and voters at locations in Arizona, Ohio and Virginia.”
Another “Debate” scheduled and orchestrated by our enemies. Who the Hell is responsible for this?
I like to start the debate threads early so people who come to FR throughout the day will be alerted there’s a debate that night. It seems to work out well.
So Blitzer’s the ring master. No thanks.
Ah. Gotcha.
If Bachmann turns into Romney Jr. (attacking Perry and defending the SS status quo), then she needs to stop calling herself the Tea Party candidate.
The Tea Party is about facing up to our problems and that means blunt talk, not dancing around them.
I’ll be watching this to see if Bachmann becomes the “former tea pary candidate” sometime in this debate.
(Two FL debates in a row? Who schedules these things?)
Why do the Repubs continue to allow these debates to be moderated and broadcast by there enemies? Is there any doubt that CNN and MSNBC are their enemies, and will do whatever they can to make them look bad? I would tell CNN and Wolfie boy to kiss my ass in Macy’s front window!! Although, I’m sure Anderson Cooper would like that!
Same way MSM does their polling, they leave out a whole segment of the population
They just had a debate not even a week ago. I’m as much of a political junky as anyone and have watched all of the previous debates but I may skip this one in favor of the game. We’ll see.
I’ll (we’ll) be there for the debate. Alright, it’s actually a “debate watching party” at the Tampa Fairgrounds. 20 or so Freepers will be there together. Don’t know if I’ll be able to do any posting, but I’ll try to give it a shot.
After reading Krugmans repugnant piece on 9/11, I cancelled my subscription to the New York Times this AM.—Donald Rumsfeld 56 minutes ago via Twitter
Thanks! I've missed all of the previous ones; it's about time I watch. And since the Broncos-Raiders game starts late, it won't interfere.

Setting to record..Thanks..I get more out of it if I can go back and listen to precisely what was asked and said.
Hi O ~~! Hope you’re having a grand time.
Maybe we’ll see you in the audience tonight.
Will you be holding a sign?
Have a wonderful time. HUGS .. ;)
Can’t wait to hear your observations.
Yay!! FR is baaaaackkkk and ready for tonight’s debate:-) Hallelujah!!
Free Republic is back on!
Yay!
Does anyone know if this debate will be aired live online anywhere?
It repeats 3-4 times, so if someone wants to catch it they will.
Also, these days almost everybody can record on one or two channels while watching a third.
bkmk
I love that. Thank you!!!!!
Believe it or not, most people don’t give a hoot about the NFL
CNN will be live streaming it.
Wow, I really should’ve checked there first. Thanks though
As to 'Who the Hell is responsible for this?' - First and foremost - leftist media, in hopes of doing as much damage as possible to GOP front-runners. Second and just as responsible - the candidates, that will leap at every opportunity to get their face and ideas in front of voters - despite the adverse climate they walk into.
Last - but certainly not least - all voters that have little genuine interest in who wins, like to see these things to help them keep up a little bit with what is going on in the race. Their viewing of these farces becomes a barometer of sorts by which leftist media learns how to drive their opposition to front-running candidates.
We've already seen what media has done with the last debate, whipping Perry hour by hour over his mention of the SS ponzi-scheme - while swooning over every word that comes from the mouth of the failed idiot currently destroying this nation.
I'm just hoping Wolf Blitzer has at least one moment where he muffs his voice and ends a sentence with "and Bmmmmm mmmmm mmmmmbbuh."
Or is that just on SNL?

I should be added here when the time comes.
I wish Huntsman, Paul and Santorum would not participate. They don’t have a chance of winning and they take time from the upper tier candidates.
Am I mistaken in thinking Palin had already accepted invitation to attend debate?
There is a thread just posted that she will not be there.
Report: Sarah Palin turned down invitation to tonight’s CNN/TPX debate

Is this the first we are hearing about this? I hadn’t seen it mentioned on any other Palin thread.
“I wish Huntsman, Paul and Santorum would not participate. They dont have a chance of winning and they take time from the upper tier candidates”
I agree. However Huntsman is the msm darling so they will keep him in as long as posible. Paul is the kooky guy and the msm likes to think all Republicans are like him(nuts). So they will keep him for show. Santorum is the one that will go first.
Bachmann is done anyways. It's really down to Mitt, Perry, and Palin if she decides to get in.
I don’t blame them for participating, it’s the only time they ever get any coverage or anyone’s even aware they’re running.
If FOX was smart they’d make their debate on the 22nd in FL between Romney and Perry. Just the two of them. Right now, the nominee will be on eof them with Perry the strong favorite.
With all due respect, none of the others has a real chance.
So why waste time? Lets have a debate with the two top guys going at it so we can really get a feel and really let them make their case.
I’d suggest the ratings for a Perry Romney one-on-one on FOX would be the highest yet. Hopefully they do it. These 8 candidate debates are largely wastes of time.

With Palin moderating!
The bigger question is why Rumsfeld still had a sunscription to begin with?
I guess he was ok with the times ripping Bush, Cheny, himself, the GOP, conservatism in general, basically disagreeing with him on everything...and he still kept up a subscription until now?
I don’t think debates should have moderators at all. You should just have the candidates and let them argue with one another for 2 hours and make their case. They’re all grown ups, they’ll give each other time. Maybe you could have some referee or something who could keep track of time and let them know if someone hasn’t spoken in a while.
But as far as questions and content, I’d go no moderators. Just the candidates going back and forth.
DirecTV guide indicates it will be broadcast live and replayed several times.
Then at the end of the debate, Gov Palin says...I have heard all I need to hear from you 2 clowns, for the sake of my children/children’s children, I throw my hat in to the ring...I LIKE IT
Wolf Boitzed as a “moderator” is like having Tammy Fay Bakker as a make up consultant
