A Kansas resident died this week from what was likely a rare infection by a brain-eating amoeba - the fourth such case in the U.S. this year. State and local officials warned residents to avoid activities in warm rivers, lakes and other bodies of heated, fresh water, including ponds near power plants.
Single deaths from such infections also have been reported this summer in Florida, Louisiana and Virginia.

Naegleria fowleri moves into the body through the nose and destroys brain tissue. It almost always causes meningitis
Symptoms of an infection include headache, fever, nausea and vomiting, stiff neck, confusion, lack of attention to people and surroundings, loss of balance and bodily control, seizures and hallucinations.

Officials urge swimmers to avoid swimming in bodies of freshwater. Those who do should wear nose plugs or hold their nose when they jump or dive in.
The Naegleria fowleri does not pose a threat to swimmers in local springs, well-maintained pools and the ocean, according to the CDC. It can't be transmitted from person to person, either.

This explains democrats.
Where did i see this before? I remember reading the same thing about deaths from this.
I don’t know how, but I know that you are involved in this somewhere
I never thought I’d see the day that water had to be bottled and bought. We get cancer from the sun (I know three melonoma cases myself)Now no swimming in lakes? Crazy!
a young man whose death in June was traced to the tap water he used in a device called a neti pot. It’s a small teapot-shaped container used to rinse out the nose and sinuses with salt water to relieve allergies, colds and sinus trouble.

Helps to hold ones nose when one jumps in feet first into a pond or lake
A winner right out of the gate.
“PAM due to Naegleria fowleri has a worldwide distribution and occurs most frequently in tropical areas and during hot summer months.”

Another gift from uncontrolled illegal immigration or trade with Red China?
I wonder.
I have used those before. How was the bacteria in the tap?Did he not wash the neti out from the last time? I will go read it. that is scarey.
Four people die and it’s scary?
You have better odds of dying from being eaten by a shark in your own bathtub.
Stop worrying about death and embrace life in all its God given wonders and awesomeness.
;-)
Distilled water might be best
I don’t think you get cancer from the sun....there are lower rates of melanoma nearer the equater.....it’s likely from lack of Vitamin D3
This sounds like the best thing possible for most Democrats, who can afford to lose 10 pounds of useless fat and cholesterol anyway.....
the Neti pot case is strange. Can't imagine a public water source that was that contaminated.
Uh, maybe because the people who live near the equator are darker complected and therefore at lower risk for skin cancer.
Poor things would probably starve to death at the White House.
For an extremely rare disease, it sure happens a lot more recently.
Nope.
