On September 10, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. EST, almost ten years after the September 11 terrorist attacks, the Flight 93 National Memorial will be dedicated. Following a decade of healing, the promise of this sacred ground will finally be realized. The Memorial Plaza and Field of Honor will be the first features of the memorial to be completed for dedication, and will be permanently open to the public after the September 10 ceremony. I watched a show on the History Channel until after 2:30 a.m. this morning. It focused on the search and rescue, the days that followed, interviews with the responders. There was a brief moment where an irate phone call to an Islam Center was played but I don't recall seeing too many volunteers, also shown, who were Muslims.

I would expect it in a camera pan of a Rush Limbaugh TV audience and to a lesser extent of a Tea Party gathering but why is this event so WHITE?

Of hundreds of attendees, I see only one black person. What drives this phenomenon?

Were the Flight 93 Heroes awarded civilian Medals of Honor? If not, they should have been.

Why does ‘the poet’ read the names of the heroes? Doesn’t seem the right one for the honor.
