Last Friday night I had the opportunity to watch The Undefeated for the very first time. I know what most Palin supporters are thinking right now, and yes I felt like the last person on Earth who hadnt seen it. With all of the anticipation, and after reading every review of the film, I had high expectations for this critically acclaimed documentary and let me say that it met every expectation, and then some more.
I watched the film with some family members, but I also took the liberty to invite three of my college-age friends; knowing the importance of spreading the message of the film. One friend is completely non-political, another is not socially conservative, and the third is all-around conservative, like myself, but has been a Ron Paul supporter. I was surprised when the film reviews came true before my eyes, as The Undefeated along with the truth gained Sarah Palin some admiration and very possibly three more votes.
The first hour, by my assessment, is done in typical documentary fashion. It is chock full of information about the beginning of Sarah Palins political career and her assent to Alaskas top job. The film captivates the viewer with astounding views of Americas Last Frontier, which along with images of Sarah Palin and her family, draws you into the atmosphere that inspired her to get involved in the affairs of her state.
One particular aspect of the film that got the attention of my friends was the consistency of Sarah Palins smaller, smarter government message and actions. Seeing actual footage of Mayor Palin from the late 90′s advocating for lower property taxes and less regulation showed us that she actually believed in these things as governing principles. And when the film shed light on Governor Palin vetoing record amounts of spending in 2007, I reminded everyone that this was in the times of plenty, times when spending was cool in the Republican Party. She wouldnt even compromise her principles about government when it was more than acceptable for a Republican to spend big for more earmarks, and for more votes.
Another aspect of The Undefeated that gained recognition from my group of viewers was that the film mostly used the words of Palins various administration officials to describe her actions and record. Its one thing to stand before a crowd and talk about yourself, that can sometimes be a bit skeptical. But to have a host of your peers stand before a crowd and talk about you is quite authentic. Having Governor Palins team make the case for her leadership with regards to ACES, AGIA, ethics reform and other issues was very effective. Also highlighted in the film is the amount of work Governor Palin did with bi-partisan support from lawmakers, striking down the mantra that she is Americas most partisan political figure.
When the film shifted into the last hour it focused on the circumstances of Governor Palins resignation, her similarities to Ronald Reagan, and her extended involvement with the Tea Party movement. Seeing the abundance of frivolous ethics complaints and FOIA requests ripped from the headlines of newspapers gave the viewers a sense of what Governor Palin was up against when she returned after the 2008 election. That combined with her team expressing the sheer wall of obstruction that they faced from legislators on the other side of the aisle, let the viewer know that Governor Palins resignation was more noble and worthy of praise than criticism.
The film closes with three titans of the modern conservative movement: Mark Levin, Tammy Bruce, and Andrew Breitbart making the case for the Tea Party movement, for Sarah Palins involvement in it, and for the dire need of the nation to heed the call to return to the vision of Americanism that Ronald Reagan espoused. This combined with inspirational clips of Sarah Palins speeches of the last three years and clips of Ronald Reagan, makes for a very moving setting.
After the film ended we discussed it. My non-politcal friend was impressed with Governor Palins story and remarked about how nothing he had been told about her had proved true. My not-so-socially conservative friend was impressed with Governor Palin, saying how much the themes of Saturday Night Live had corrupted her image and distracted people from her real record, telling me later: Im glad I sat and watched that with you. And my friend who is a Ron Paul guy told me that before watching the Undefeated he had only considered voting for Paul, but now would have to seriously consider Palin since he seemed to identify with her more than he thought.
In my eyes this film is a success, and a success story. I have often said that anyone who reads Governor Palins memoir Going Rogue would most likely be a vote in the bag for a presidential run should she decide to take that route. The book defines so well Governor Palins governing principles, philosophy, inspiring life story, and honest love for her state and country, that it is hard to disagree with. The Undefeated takes the essence of Going Rogue and opens it up to a wider audience. It is a powerful film, with a powerful message; able to inspire and able to unite.
“As government Expands liberty contracts” Reagan Palin 2012
>Saturday Night Live had corrupted her image
Character assassination = bad
You will be a very important component of the campaign that WE THE PEOPLE must create. The youth must take a greater role in the political process. It is your future that Sarah will be fighting for. I am in my 60’s and my heart breaks at the prospect of a deteriorating America for our children.
Thank you for your insight. EAGLES UP SARAH! WE WILL FOREVER HAVE YOUR BACK Madam President!
The liberal professors control many college students minds.
The kids have to get a grade from the liberal minded professor.
The problem is getting people to watch it.
Too bad it is so expensive to buy TV time. Paying for and showing it on one of the major networks would help. Nobody has that kind of money.
Nobody has $5.99? Hmmm...I can help you with that. If you want to throw a “Palin: Undefeated” party with all your friends I will send you the money through Paypal.
I plan to buy the DVD and pass it around to as many as I can. If we all did that...hmmmm
I’ll pay $5.99 for it. Where do I find it?
Is it available through some cable pay TV channel ?
Palin Undefeated pizza parties are becoming the latest rage.
Check with your service provider. It's on Video-On-Demand and Pay-Per-View for most the major cable and sat providers. It's on DIRECTV (channel 148 Dtv link), DISH Network, Comcast, COX, Charter, and Time Warner Cable.
NOTE: Although the movie is The Undefeated, it's called SARAH PALIN: UNDEFEATED on most pay services.
Comcast has it in "On Demand" (TV) and "Xfinity" (PC) in "Just iN" or "Just Released" category. Enjoy.
Same here. My token Christmas shopping for friends and family is done! Everyone will get a copy of The Undefeated.
(Including my idiot GOP-turned-"progressive" leftist cousin who will foam at the mouth when he opens it!)
don't just rent it. BUY it. Buy more than one copy, so you can share it. I'm planning to buy several copies for gifts to my kids and to some of my friends.
I apologize for the late reply - yes, time warner, comcast, direct TV and all of them I think Pay Per View. On Time Warner it’s called “Palin:Undefeated”. Hope you find my late reply :-)
Maybe we should start a club: "The FR Dozen"....
* I am thinking of buying a dozen copies.
* Lend them not to our like kind here, bu liberals, apolitico's and squishy moderates
* When you hand it to someone also hand them a bag of Microwave Popcorn.
* If it is a couple, approach the women in the team, she maybe more receptive, even though they are more critical of her
* Just say here, watch this if you get a chance, I'd like your feedback on this, no hard sell.
People don't like to be lied to, when they find out they have been had by the Lame Streams I think the doors will open up for Indy's to vote for her.
This movie maybe the key to that...
“I plan to buy the DVD and pass it around to as many as I can. If we all did that...hmmmm”
Of course, that is a good idea. I would just like to see a bigger mass exposure. If it were shown on network TV...even as paid time....it would get more traction.
However, we do what we can....and you are. I salute you.
