Hoffa’s words about labor’s importance brushed off (Obama, The Hypocrite in Chief)

The White House sidestepped questions Tuesday about a labor leader’s controversial rhetoric at a Labor Day rally headlined by President Obama, dismissing the matter as “kabuki.”

Press secretary Jay Carney refused to condemn Teamster President Jimmy Hoffa’s fiery remarks and pointed out that Mr. Obama was not yet on stage when Mr. Hoffa roused a crowd of union workers in Detroit by promising “war” with the tea party. “President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let’s take these sons of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong,” Mr. Hoffa said in his introduction of the president.

Pressed by reporters, Mr. Carney said the president didn’t hear the comments, which resulted in a near-immediate backlash from conservatives Monday.

“Mr. Hoffa speaks for himself,” Mr. Carney told reporters. “The president speaks for himself.”

Asked if Mr. Obama meant what he said when he used a January speech to implore civil discourse in the wake of the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, Mr. Carney said: “Of course he did.”

In 1993, Richard Trumpka exorted union workers to “take out” non-union workers. They murdered a non-union contractor Eddie York. In the end the union agreed to pay York’s family $27 million.

I Predict Rick Perry will school obama on civility tonight during the debates.
We have lost 1000 homes this weekend to the bastrop fires.
Perry left the campaign trail to deal with the situation.
FEMA has been asked for assistance again.
To date Obama has snubbed Texas in the face of Two major wildfires and the worst drought in history.

The country is going to hear about what a heartless turd Obama is. You can count on it.

Fox reporting that the Federal Govt. blocked the use of all available ‘water planes’ in Texas - even though the contractor is willing to send them.

(I’ll try and find a link)

Jake tapper called what Obama is doing Kabuki, before Carny feebly tried to reassign the term to Tapper.

WH: Obama won’t ‘serve as speech police for Democratic Party’...

WMAL EXCLUSIVE: LISTEN - Obama’s New Rule For Political Civility

by John Matthews
WMAL.com

WASHINGTON — A top aide to President Obama says Americans must decide for themselves how to be civil with each other — a rather sharp departure from comments that Obama has himself made in the past.

In an interview with the WMAL Morning Majority Wednesday, White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer said the Obama administration is not going to be drawn into the “gotcha game” of reacting to comments made by Teamsters President James Hoffa, Jr. At a Labor Day rally in Detroit, Hoffa urged the President to use unions as his army to fight back against the Tea Party and “take these son-of-a-bitches out.”

Pfeiffer told WMAL that President Obama is not going to “serve as the speech police for the Democratic party.”

“What everyone should do is make their best judgment of how they be civil,” said Pfeiffer. “What I don’t think makes sense is to distract from the major issues at hand to try to get everyone to go back and approve and disapprove of every single thing that every single person has said,” he added.

Pfeiffer’s comments on WMAL came a day after White House spokesman Jay Carney declined to say whether Obama thought Hoffa’s comments were appropriate. The White House communications director’s comments seem far removed from comments the President himself made on the issue of civility in politics earlier this year.

In January, days after the Tucson shootings in which six people were killed and 14 wounded including Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Obama urged Americans to find better ways to communicate with each other.

“At a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized, at a time when we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who think differently than we do,” the President said at the time, “it’s important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds,” he said.

The [Federal Aviation Administration] representative stated that the disrupted contract issues which led to the grounding of Aero Union’s entire fleet do not relate to the suitability of these aircraft to perform for the remainder of this fire season,” Lungren said in the Aug. 15 letter to Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, whose agency oversees the Forest Service.
