FBI arrests prominent Democratic campaign treasurer (Durkee and Associates)

http://www.ocregister.com/news/durkee-315349-campaign-county.html

SACRAMENTO – A prominent Democratic campaign treasurer who works for federal, state and O.C. lawmakers including U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein. Rep. Loretta Sanchez and state Assemblymen Lou Correa and Jose Solorio has been arrested by the FBI on suspicion of mail fraud, The Orange County Register has learned.

U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman Thom Mrozek confirmed Saturday afternoon that Kinde Durkee of Burbank-based Durkee and Associates, was arrested by the FBI on a criminal complaint filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Sacramento. Special Agent Steve Dupre of the bureau’s Sacramento office said she was arrested in connection with her position as a campaign treasurer.

State Sen. Lou Correa told the Register on Saturday afternoon that he was called by the FBI late Friday night and told that Durkee had been arrested and that he is a likely victim along with “many, many other victims.” The Santa Ana Democrat said he believes he has lost “hundreds of thousands of dollars” in campaign funds.

“This is clearly a sense of betrayal of someone I have trusted for a number of years,” said Correa, who has used Durkee as his campaign treasurer since 1995. “This is a punch straight to the gut.”

Well, he wasn’t arrested for sending out campaign literature about the candidates that he represented. Doesn’t matter how fraudulent the information, it is still protected by the First Amendment. But I’ll bet that got him used to using the mails to commit fraud. Familiarity breeds contempt and all that.

By my count there are 37 million victims of all the scum like Durkee who work to keep Democrats in power in California.

I’m sure God had a good reason for putting lobbyists&liberals on this planet.

Let me know when you find out what it is. ;-)

I like how the politicos will probably hide behind the trees and run for the hills at the mention of Durkee.. but claiming to be victims,, naaaaa.. maybe she can work in the mailroom in prison.

I’ll be curious to see specifics of the charge or charges..

This will be very bad for the Democrats involved. It will involve a complete forensic accounting to figure out how much was taken, which will lead to who gave the money and how much, which will lead to campaign finance fraud by the candidates.

The first thing Ms. Durkee should do is ask for a deal and protection.

She dies, case closed and no investigations.

I’m guessing the prosecutors will have no problem getting her to plea to virtually anything in exchange for a bacon double cheeseburger and a king size Hershey’s bar.

How would the Witness Protection Program work if the person in charge has to answer to high officials in the Democrat Party? What a typical criminal would have to get by force or by stealth, these guys can simply ask for, in exchange for continued funding of the program.
