If I remember my history, the face of the Sphinx was partially destroyed by islamists.

One of the moslem rulers of Egypt also issued a demand that the pyramids be torn down. After a few dozen blocks were removed, they gave up.

True, we called it first, but I’m hopeful that the generals of Egypt knew it was coming. So far the Islamists seem to be losing power. They gained 75% of parliament only to struggle to win the presidency. If the trend continues perhaps a future election will sweep pro-market, pro-western Muslims into power...
