Whenever some liberal says something like this to me, I always suggest that they show some leadership, be an example and GO FIRST!

There's already a global superplague reducing the world's population. It's called Liberalism. Also known as Socialism. Or Humanism.

Just look at Africa. Millions of people die needlessly from malaria every year because of the Liberal ban on DDT.

Look at how many millions of humans have been destroyed in the womb over the last 4 decades. Then there is the phenomena I call Grand-abortions. Those are the babies who were never conceived in the first place because the humans who would have been their parents were killed before they were allowed to be born.

Then there's homosexuality. No explanation necessary there.

Then there's Feminism. How many women have chosen barrenhood over parenthod?

The list goes on and one.

All are examples of Liberalism.

There have been countless books, movies, and TV shows, based on such apocalyptic themes. I just watched "Survivors" (streamed on NetFlix), a fairly good BBC series involving a "global super plague". To the extent I take it seriously, I take it as a cautionary tale. It seems that Daily Kos types would see it as a Utopian tale.

The Black Death played a huge role in the emergence of the middle class in much of Europe. However, the main things that brought about the Renaissance were, as you mentioned, the fall of Constantinople, the opening of trade routes to the Orient and the Catholic Church changing the definition of usury from not being allowed to charge any interest to a prohibition against excessive interest.
