New Poll Shows that Perry’s Entrance Scrambled GOP Race (Perry leading in Iowa)

A new poll by Public Policy Polling puts Texas Gov. Rick Perry in the front of the GOP presidential field in Iowa and shows just how much Perry’s entrance into the race scrambled the contest for the Republican nomination.

The poll, released Tuesday (.pdf), shows that 21% of the poll respondents would support Perry in the Iowa caucuses next February, outpacing the two other Republican frontrunners Michele Bachmann and Mitt Romney. Romney’s campaign has been focusing on New Hampshire, a state that is considered a must win for his campaign.

If the contest were simplified to a three-way race between Bachmann, Romney and Perry – Perry would be supported by 34 percent of respondents as opposed to just 28% for Romney and 24% for Bachmann.

NO doubt, but there are some fundamental things that aren’t just WTF moments. It remains to be seen what the larger conservative/tea party community will do with his willingness to appoint major donors to positions in government. (just one example)

Wow! Once again, just like the folks on DU, you set up a straw man to attack. You Perry haters just can't find any affirmative argument for your candidates, can you? You just have to make it personal.

I did not say "everybody" and your saying so makes you one of those liars.

What I did say is that the attacks have all been lies, half-truths and things taken out of context . . . which for the most part they have and that they who are using those tactics are emulating liberals at DU.

A number of the criticisms are legitimate, his stance on illegal immigration is shaky and he has been guilty of some questionable business deals in the public-private partnerships, but the vast majority of attacks coming from folks like you have been disingenuous at best, more intended to cause harm than to be factually correct.

As a compassionate state, we know that for our children to succeed, they must not only be healthy, but educated. The future leaders of our two nations are learning their fractions and their ABC’s in classrooms all along this border. Find me where that crap has had to be employed among Perry supporters. Confidence and certainty is something Rick exudes with cheerfulness. Yes, cheer. Something a leader exhibits with no whining. Your remark is out of the Palin supporter’s handbook. Everyone was a traitor and a turncoat to the Republic if they were not perfectly and exactly positioned on the Palin band wagon. I have the bruises to show for it. Sarah has already announced one more non-announcement of an announcement at the Labor Day, September 3 event! She says the media who suggests they know or think she will announce are making trouble. Heck, the media probably got their info off the lather on Free Republic from her own supporters assuring one another that her genius will announce at last on Sept. 3.

Sarah will endorse no one. At least until it is a given who the nominee will be, and if she wants a position in the new administration. I don’t really think she knows what she wants now that she is out of work, but for the FOX contract. To keep that contract she must be telling them she is not running, and they must believe her.

Her satisfaction is my day’s mission. Please don’t tell me she prefers Hatch now to Perry. If she can appreciate Hatch, she can appreciate Rick’s credentials for crying out loud. He has done nothing damaging to a conservative agenda, compared to Hatch. (IMHO)
