At least and hour+ ago Russia Today was reporting the same thing and that his security detail had surrendered.
The so-called “Arab Spring” is only going to end up with a new set of non-democratic Muslim theocrats at the helm of things, a sort of Arabic counterpart to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Then the Muslim Brotherhood will be on sufficiently strong footing to confront the internal threat that the Shi’ites represent to orthodox Sunni interpretations of the Koran.
This is an internecine war among various practitioners of Islam, and in a sane world, we would be well advised to stand aside while they carry out genocide upon each other.
But the world is no longer sane, and sooner or later, just about everybody is going to get sucked into this conflict, if only because they stand to be collateral damage.
The only dog we SHOULD have in this fight is the protection of the integrity of the Israeli nation. Yet we have a regime in power in our own country that has made it their dedicated goal to assist in the dismantling of that very bold experiment in representative government and relative freedom expressed by the Israelis.
As Israel goes, so goes America and most of Europe. Not because America and Europe are overrun by Islam, but because the very delicate balance of economic power will be gone in a blinding flash.

Muslim Brotherhood will rush in the vacume in time...like flies to honey. Just as they have in Egypt. Much of this “arab Spring” was no doubt planned and begun by those other than the ME. countries.
