WALTER REED - Final Plans for LAST Rally in Support of Patients Move, Sun., 8-28-11, 7AM til done

Posted on 08/21/2011 3:13:36 PM PDT by trooprally

It is public knowledge that the final move of our Wounded Warriors from Walter Reed to Bethesda Naval Hospital and Ft. Belvour will be Sunday, August 28,2011.

Best intel we have is that the ambulances will start transporting our Wounded Warriors out of the main at Georgia Avenue and Elder Street, NW, gate at 7AM. We do not know the exact end time. From some deduction it is expected to be around 1-2PM.

THE DC CHAPTER OF FREEREPUBLIC WILL BE THERE, rain or shine or hurricane. All patriots are invited to help show our Wounded Warriors and their families that they are loved and that we support them no matter where they are. The DC Chapter will have drinks and coffee for the real early birds. We will have munchies but lunch is on your own.

We will be asking patriots to help out in 2 hour shifts, 7-9AM, 9-11AM, 11AM til ?? - Just in case the ambulances run a little later than expected, hopefully you can stay. With some coordination we can be assured there are sufficient numbers showing our support through out the move. Contact TROOPRALLY by private FRmail or at trooprally@yahoo.com.

Being the last official Walter Reed event, intel says to expect some media coverage.

Feel free to post this notice on blogs and inform other patriotic groups to join us. Please contact us at Trooprally@yahoo.com

We only have time to travel from Hershey for either Friday night or Sunday to support the troops.
Which one should we do?

That is a tough call. There is a small chance of a bus on Friday. On Sunday you have plenty of ambulances to cheer.

Do whichever day is easiest for you.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think Obama has even visited Walter Reed and the soldiers there since he became President....

As a mother of Marine and National Guardsman, my hand over my heart to all the soldiers/Marines and all those working to help them move to the new Hospital.

I haven’t kept tabs on this.

What are they doing with Walter Reed? Closing it?

Sigh.

Of course . . . as a Navy bloke, Bethesda has to be better. LOL.

A Jun 17, 2011 USA Today piece says Obama made 3 visits to Walter Reed according to CBS Radio's Mark Knoller.

Yep, closing it. Gates are finally locked on Sept. 15 per BRAC. A number of federal and DC government agencies are moving in after some older buildings are replaced with new ones.

Bethesda has its good points. Traffic around it and inside will be atrocious though.

Ahhhh.

Thx.

Then there’s the noise that DC will be scrapped altogether.

Perhaps courtesy the Russians and Chinese.

Sigh.

LOL

Maybe the DC government is down sizing and all the agencies will fit into the stream room.

The government downsizing . . .

would be more miraculous than

. . .

the Exodous; Noah’s flood; . . .

Thank you all so very much for this great service to our country and to our troops. I’m going to try hard to be there. Supposed to in a different part of Maryland that day but this is important.

It will be good to see you. Since we do not know exactly when the transfer will wrap up, best to be there before noon to get some “cheering” time in.
