Christie: Climate change is real
By MAGGIE HABERMAN | 8/19/11 9:57 PM EDT
Chris Christie made clear he falls in the Jon Huntsman camp as opposed to the Rick Perry camp on the scientific-political issue of the week in the Republican primary:
In vetoing a bill (S2946) that would have required New Jersey to stay in a regional program intended to curb greenhouse gases a program Christie plans to leave by the end of the year the governor said "climate change is real."
He added that "human activity plays a role in these changes" and that climate change is "impacting our state."
**SNIP**
Christie's come full circle on the issue. Last year, he told a town hall audience in Toms River he was skeptical climate change is the result of human activity. He backed off those comments at a conference of environmentalists in May and agreed to meet with climate scientists for a lesson in global warming.

I long ago abandoned any hope of Chris Christie being a conservative that I could support in the 2012 presidential election. This kind of nonsense is one reason why. It’s too bad Ann Coulter decided to support a RINO that has zero chance of winning the Republican presidential nomination.
Another RINO bites the dust. Globull warming and thinking muzzies are great. Two good reason for Christie to stay in New Jersey.
Chrisitie is nothing but a loud mouth, fat fraud. The guy talks a good game when it comes to unions but that’s it. Furthermore, when he does attack union representatives it’s usually some wimpy guy representing the teacher’s union or a female teacher. I’ve never seen him get in the face of a true union thug. He is a bully by all accounts.
Hahaha.......agreed!
Climate Change IS real. 16,000 Years ago, New Jersey was covered by a mile DEEP Glacier.
It melted. Not man’s fault. Period.
When that Glacier decides it wants to come back, are we going to pay people to release CO2 to save New Jersey from being scraped off the map?
Take the fork out of your mouth, Christie and stick it in yourself. You are done.
There have been times in human history, and way way before it, of dramatically different global climate.
There are three real questions.
Is it going up or down?
How much does human activity influence it?
And is this a good thing or a bad thing?
Now when I was very young they were saying it was cooling and it was going to be disastrous and man was most certainly to blame - capitalism especially.
Now they are saying it is warming and it is going to be disastrous and man was most certainly to blame - capitalism especially.
The Medieval warm period seemed to be good times and good wines for all involved - are they growing grapes in England again yet - or is it not yet that warm?
Note from info below that Chris Christie not only believes in global warming (aka AGW / anthropogenic global warming), he stands strongly for government control of our society so as to reduce greenhouse emissions.
GOP Gov. Chris Christie: We have an obligation to reduce our Greenhouse Gas emissions.
May 27, 2011
Excerpts from url above
Surveying the reality-free Tea Party freak show that is the current republican presidential field, Christie has opted out. And he has fired the first shot of his 2016 campaign by committing himself to a program of free-market incentives for combatting climate change, reducing greenhouse emissions, and accelerating New Jerseys development of renewable energy and conservation.
(snip)
..Our commitment continues to combatting climate change, and looking for new, clean, and cleaner energy sources..
..were committed to putting in place policies that actively work to decrease greenhouse gas emissions, and achieve the 22.5 percent Renewable Portfolio Standard target by 2021..
(snip)
The cleanest energy is the energy that you dont use the state has to lead in terms of conservation, and so were going to lead by example on energy efficiency.
we remain completely committed to the idea that we have a responsibility as a state to make the environment of our state, and the world, better..
we have an obligation to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.

If you are having a hard time believing Chris Christie would believe in global warming and government control of cities and individuals to reduce greenhouse emissions, see the two videos posted at the link on this post. You’ll be sickened.
Which, come to think of it, is probably a good thing for America. Christie might be good on the fiscal issues but I have a feeling he'd nominate nothing but Left-Wing Hacks for Judgeships.
Next RINO please....
real simple litmus test... How do you feel on the global warming scam?
Abortion?
Owning a weapon?
those three things tell you if they believe in life, liberty and the constitution or are quisling, cowardly traitors.
. . .and no signs of enlightenment per his convictions.
. . .and no signs of enlightenment per his convictions.
Bye bye Chris. I really liked your attitude but now you’ve screwed up big time.
Oh come now, you know it was George Bush and his time/weather machine that started all this 10,000 years ago.........
He’s toast. Absolutely unelectable.
Anyone who jumps on a bandwagon when the wheels have clearly fallen off the bandwagon is politically tone deaf.
If he’s thinking of running for President, he should stop now.
Here’s a May 2011 article on New Jersey’s support of and participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI):
http://reepedia.com/archives/1413
(Excerpt / Intro):
NEW YORK (May 26, 2011) New Jersey residents solidly support the states participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, a program that generates jobs, revenue and investment in their clean energy economy, according to new Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey results released today by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).

Economy Change is real too. And the economy will get much colder when the “green scientists” have their way. The devastation will be much worse than anything envisioned by Al Gore. (Well maybe not, Al can envision alot.)
Yes, there’s spring, summer, fall and winter!
Its not good for me to hate people and get all emotional but Christie is showing us his liberal side.
He was the more liberal candidate in the primary for Governor in 2009. Steve Lonergan was the conservative.
Still, I will admit that Christie was willing to take on the pay scales in education asking for a teacher pay freeze and capping the salaries of school administration.
That was good.
He’s made his appearances at pro-life events as well to say he’s pro-life.
That’s OK.
But in other areas he is the RINO.
The issue is: Can humans cause it? Can humans make it better? Or worse?
This gets lost in the noise.
We should be asking these candidates what if anything they are going to do about "climate change". Then vote for the ones who say "I will do nothing".
Climate change IS real.
Yesterday it was raining and today it’s sunny.
Soon it will get cold and later, it will get warm again.
We, out here in The Ignorant Wasteland call these remarkable phenomenon “The Weather” and “The Seasons”.
“Humans can change climate on at least a local scale,. . “
That I can accept, and thank you for your post.
I would tell Christie that he can believe in all the phony scientific studies he wants, just don’t spend a dime of my money on cap and trade and more EPA regulations. You can believe what you want; just don’t use my money for your naive and unfounded belief systems.
What is not often discussed is that this global warming mania has resulted in more diplomas awarded in environmentalism than in physics and chemistry. And,thanks to global warming grants, these environmental researchers are making more money than the ‘hard’ scientists.
Sorry if I offended environmental researchers, but I will go with the words of Frances Bacon:
“Argumentation cannot suffice for the discovery of new work, since the subtlety of Nature is greater many times than the subtlety of argument.”
Has it warmed up over the last 10,000 years? Yes.
Was it caused by man? No.
Agreed - that's what REAL science says, not what the fraudulent, politically- and monetarily-driven "consensus" says.
Here's another question:
IF there is global warming, and IF it is a "bad thing," and IF it is caused mostly by mankind, and IF we can do something about it without crashing the already fragile and dying world economy (which crash would result in mass starvation and world war), then CAN IT BE DONE WITHOUT CHINA AND INDIA BEING SUBJECT TO THE SAME STANDARDS?
The answer is clearly, "No" - meaning that the proposed set of solutions to this non-problem is purely driven by politics and corruption, both with a heavy anti-US bias. Meaning that as a presidential candidate, Chris Christie makes a fantastic governor of the Peoples Republic of New Jersey.
Take note, Anne Coulter. You are on the cusp of being written off as a serious conservative if you keep talking up this guy.
Other than his Youtube “me vs the teachers” videos, the only thing he’s good for is Gov of NJ.
Climate change is real. I mean yesterday it was 80 degrees sunny light breeze, and right now it is foggy 60 no wind.
I am in full agreement that climate change is real and I would add that only a fool would believe otherwise. The climate has been changing as long as there has been such a thing as climate. Where I part company with Christie is when he says that human activity is causing it or that there is man made global warming. The clowns have corrupted the language at every opportunity so that now it is assumed that climate change can mean only anthropogenic global warming, it is like saying that animal can only mean Kangaroo. Actually climate change could mean any one of a very long list of things, even non-anthropogenic global COOLING which seems to be what is actually happening and it is what was being predicted long before they switched over to the global warming hue and cry.
“Oh, I’ve done a 360 on that.”

Braun was just explaining that she is dizzy from going in circles.
Golleeee, thanks, I didn’t know that. Zero point zero is exactly how much money I have but I don’t want to buy Google, can I buy Ford with that?
Translation: I have financial ties to “Green” companies.
It is real simple: Yankee + Republican = RINO.
Climate change is as real as the changing of the seasons...
No, wait...What?
Don't count on it.
I believe Christie is correct that human activity does/can impact global climate change just by virtue of being part of the Eco system. However, if Christie meant to imply that human activity is in any way a major or even significant contributor/cause to the climate change he was really off base and not even in in the ball park. He needs to clarify his position on this with creditable references. He also should explain his acceptance of Muslim friendship.
Wobal glarming strikes down another great thinker. /s
Human activity can impact the local environment, but global climate change on Earth, Mars, Venus, and other planets is caused by the Sun. Mankind has zero measurable impact on global climate change.
Water vapor and clouds are the primary drivers of climate change, as driven by the Sun, whether it be cosmic rays or variations in solar radiation, or magnetic field changes, or distance from the Earth.
So I say,go for it Christie!
He’s borrowing from GA Jimmy who said in 1977 or 1978 “the energy crisis is real.”
Governor Christie seems to have found a way to keep people from pestering him about running for president.
Climate change is real.
And human activity may have a role in that.

Climate-change science makes for hot politics
Global Warming on Free Republic
Well, the problem is he is stomping all over the message,
1. Climate always changes
2. Humans are part of the biosphere of the planet so it is impossible that they don’t have an impact
3. The real questions are,
a. how much does humans influence the climate? Is it practical to think that humans can through a behavior b. change mitigate their affect on it
c. for what benefit?
d. at what cost?
Perry’s answer to this complicated mess of questions of where exactly these greenie weanie arguments fell short to the simple “NO” it doesn’t exist.
Christi thinks he can’t say that, so he simply says “YES”
The majority of voters can’t deal with this, they want it baked down to yes or no. Perry honors them by doing this.
We conservatives have to know what he means by Yes and if that would mean anything significantly different between the two.
If Christi thinks that the changes to CO2 output will correct for any climate change, he fails the intelligence test.
That’s true, he says it as fact when it is nothing but his belief.
He doesn’t know enough to really know if it is real or not, he is going based on someone he trusts......that is what worries me.
Carbon Dioxide portion of Greenhouse gases: 4%
Man made Carbon Dioxide: 3% of all Carbon Dioxide generated.
Green house gas reduction if all man made actions ceased: 0.12%
It is pure hubris to think that we affect the earth's temperature.
Unicorns are real too,
